On the occasion of World Environment Day 🌍, a plantation and environmental awareness program was organized at Alajda village of Kheda district on 5th June 2026, with the participation of around 50 community members. The event was attended by the District Assistant Programme Manager (GLPC), Mr. Ajitbhai Damor; Taluka Livelihood Manager, Mr. Ranjitsinh Dabhi; Talati, Mrs. Dakshaben Sodhaparmar; the Sarpanch; and Mr. Hareshbhai Makwana, Gram Sevak. As part of the celebration, a tree plantation drive was conducted and an environmental pledge was recited, with participants reaffirming their commitment toward environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and creating a greener future for the coming generations 🌱🌳.

🌱 To celebrate World Environment Day 🌍, VIKSAT partnered with Tata Trusts (CInI) and Kotak Mahindra Bank 🤝 hosted an event at Rihen H. Mehta Vidyalaya in Mankadi village, Danta block (Banaskantha district) on 5th June 2026. The celebration brought together 75 inspiring participants who joined a tree-planting drive at school premises and received free lemon, guava, and custard apple saplings for their home 🌿.

During the event, Shri D.M. Patel from VIKSAT shared essential tips on reducing plastic ♻️ and keeping public spaces clean, while high school principal Rakeshbhai reminded everyone that big community change starts with small individual habits 🌴.

The day also highlighted VIKSAT’s Lakhpati Kisan Programme, which empowers rural families through sustainable farming. We are thankful to our partners and the community for their constant trust and support.

On this International Day for Biodiversity 2026, the theme “Acting locally for global impact” reminds us that biodiversity restoration is resilience building.

Across rural and tribal communities in India, local ecosystems are deeply connected to food security, traditional knowledge, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
