The Lok Sabha passed the Central GST Bill, 2017 (CGST Bill), Integrated GST Bill, 2017 (IGST Bill), Union Territory GST Bill, 2017 (UTGST Bill) and the GST (Compensation to the States) Bill 2017 after more than eight hours of debate.
This paves way for implementation of India's biggest Tax Reform - GST. Government has set July 1 as possible date roll out of GST.

Hon’ble Finance Minister Arun Jaitley started his budget speech by saying, “Our Govt was elected amidst huge expectations of people, the underlying theme of expectations being good governance. The focus will be on energizing our youth, to reap benefits of growth & employment. We have moved from a discretionary administration to a policy-based administration.”

Hon’ble Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the Budget amid hopes that the proposals of this Budget will help revive a slowing economy of India. Government is keen on movement towards cashless economy to avoid Black Money Transactions and ease of transactions through digitisation.

Count down begins for GST implementation. GST council also released 2nd version of Model GST Law on 26th November, 2016 after incorporating suggestions from industry & stakeholders. A lot a complexity has also been addressed in revised version of Model GST Law. We at Ambalal Patel & Co. took this opportunity to educate our client on Concepts of GST and also some insights into Practical Aspects that that may encounter in near future. As the GST implementation inches towards final step, migration of existing tax payers to GST system has started. Government has also released state wise schedule for proposed migration to GST regime.

For existing VAT dealers of Gujarat State, migration is scheduled from 15th November to 30th November. During this time, Gujarat VAT dealers required to log in into GST Portal (www.gst.gov.in) with provisional credential provided by Gujarat VAT Department and some additional details and documents to be provided on to the GST portal for Provisional GSTIN to be generated.
