At the Rising Bharat Summit, Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas actually agreed with Minister Piyush Goyal’s *“aim higher”* message to Indian startups. He even called Goyal’s *“dukaandari”* remark positively provocative.
Srinivas pointed out *how most Indian VCs still play it safe* — they prefer investing in things where they won’t lose money, instead of backing bold, high-risk ideas like deep-tech.
He said something really striking:
*“95% of my investments might fail, but the 5% that work will cover everything. That kind of thinking just isn’t common in India’s VC space yet.”*
