Today, the Department of Pharmacology successfully conducted the Final Round of the 10th edition of the Avicenna Clinical Pharmacology Quiz. The competition featured six highly competitive teams and included a variety of clinically oriented as well as image-based questions, making the event both intellectually stimulating and engaging for the participants. The enthusiasm, preparedness, and active participation of the students reflected the growing academic interest in clinical pharmacology and rational therapeutics. The top three winning teams were awarded cash prizes along with certificates recognizing their respective positions. In addition, considering the closely contested performances, a special consolation prize was also awarded after conducting tie-breaker rounds, which added further excitement and competitiveness to the event.

We sincerely appreciate the dedicated efforts and excellent coordination of our Senior Resident, Dr. Ammar Khalid, along with all the postgraduate committee members, whose cooperation, hard work, and meticulous planning ensured the successful organization of this landmark 10th edition of the quiz. Their commitment and teamwork played a vital role in maintaining the high academic standards and smooth ex*****on of the programme.

A very special note of gratitude is due to Misbahuddin Mohammad for his generous support and sponsorship of the event since its inception. JNMC Pharmacology Residents Explore Medical Heritage and Modern Practices Through Educational Tour

Aligarh, April 27: In alignment with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the National Education Policy 2020 and recommendations of the National Medical Commission (NMC) emphasizing experiential learning, an educational tour was organized for the first-year postgraduate residents of the Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

As part of this initiative, the residents visited the Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences, a recognized Centre of Excellence under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

During the visit, the residents were introduced to the historical progression of medicine, beginning from ancient and medieval practices to contemporary scientific advancements. The Academy provided valuable insights into traditional systems of medicine, particularly Unani medicine, and their integration with modern healthcare approaches. Exhibits, manuscripts, and scholarly resources at the Academy helped participants appreciate the continuity and transformation of medical knowledge across centuries.

The educational tour was designed not only to enhance academic understanding but also to instil an appreciation for India’s indigenous medical systems, which are increasingly being recognized globally for their relevance in integrative medicine.

Notably, the Department of Pharmacology has been actively organizing similar educational tours to key national institutions and pharmaceutical industries. These include visits to the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), which plays a critical role in setting drug standards in India, and the Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (PCIM&H), which is responsible for the standardization of traditional medicines. Exposure to pharmaceutical companies further provided residents with insights into drug development, manufacturing practices, and regulatory frameworks.

The program was well-received by the residents, who found the experience enriching and instrumental in broadening their understanding of pharmacology in both traditional and modern contexts.
