Title - Career in Culinary Art: Healthy bakery Foods & other skills

A seminar on self-employment was Organized by Career Counselling Cell in collaboration with
IQAC and WBSCSTOBCDFC on O8/09/25 in room no G4. WBSCSTOBCDFC is a Government
organization that works for the skill enhancement of minority students, to make them self-relied.
The program focused on different Culinary skills; particularly in Cake, Jam & Jelly Production,
pickle, Sauce making, food preservation & Manufacturing etc. This training not only will enhance
minority students' employability skills, it will also boost the small scale industry. The seminar was
inaugurated by our Teacher-in-Charge Dr. Milinda Mazumdar with his speech on the importance
of skills development of our students side by side holding degrees. Career Counselling Cell
convener Sukanya Som talked of how while earning money they can also contribute to the society
by delivering healthy bakery and organic foods. After her speech, the representatives from
WBSCSTOBCDFC were introduced to our students by Dr. Shree Chatterjee, member, Career
Counselling Cell. The Experts then talked in a detailed manner about the culinary art development
courses, internship programs, placement opportunities and business set up process. students were
delighted to know so many unknown facts about this well known but less ventured arena of
earning. Minority students also expressed their satisfaction by knowing the fact that under
Government scheme they can specialize in the culinary art without any course fees. The 1 hour
seminar ended with big applause to the representatives of WBSCSTOBCDFC by the Career
Counselling Cell and the students. Around 75 students attended the seminar enthusiastically to
know about employability options.
