Osteoporosis progresses quietly, gradually weakening bones until a fracture becomes the first warning sign.
At the SIStra Run in Bangalore on International Women’s Day this year, Dr. Kunvar Upveja, our Global Oncology & Digital Lead of Medical Affairs, spoke about this silent health condition. He explained how bone density declines with age, why women are disproportionately at risk, and how fragility fractures can affect independence and quality of life.
He also outlined key drivers of the osteoporosis crisis: nutritional gaps, hormonal shifts, lack of awareness and gaps in care. Most importantly, he emphasized preventive steps women can take – early screening, weight-bearing exercises, healthy nutrition and timely conversations with healthcare providers.
At Biocon, we believe stronger futures start with informed action. By raising awareness, supporting early detection and bringing science into everyday decisions, we aim to help women protect their mobility, confidence and long-term health.
