In our journey of building Pause—our first in-house product, Flutter was our framework of choice. While there are some very pronounced differences between building native Android apps and using Flutter, we decided to use it specifically for the development velocity of being able to build iOS and Android apps with a single team.

A prototype validates the concepts of the product, but does so in a mock environment with assumed constraints that might not always paint the right picture.

Our recommendation: A shallow app with real written code and functioning systems that has the core solution, with just enough scaffolding in place. Unlike a prototype, shallow apps let you experiment with an actual product in a real environment to validate your value proposition and go to market in far less time than an end product. We went fully remote in March 2020, and revisited our work strategy to suit changing times and workplace systems. As hiring began for the season, however, we faced fresh challenges that made us swap physical processes for virtual versions without losing out on talent. We've got these and more insights on hiring in remote-first organisations in our latest article — the link's in our bio 🔗

There's always more to tweak and learn, but we've seen some pretty great results already!

Have you checked out Subcontinental, our free and open-source Indian illustrations library on  Community? Here’s what our friends at have to say: “Uniquely Indian elements like Mopeds and Nilkamal plastic chairs have been incorporated in the templates and even the visual of a plug conforms to the familiar Indian shape and not its Western counterpart.”

Whatever the size and priority of your conundrum, you can rest assured that Pratul will respond to it with equal amounts of dedication and willingness to help, and a huge grin to add some warmth. Looking past the cat-joke-chat trinity, Pratul is driven to make something worthwhile of this world, and leave a lasting impact. From being around people 25/8 to coming into his own while working from home, this year was packed with learnings for the Obvious Tech Touchstone.

There is an uncommon level of clarity in reading 's thoughts, be it on Twitter, on call or on Slack. There is an economy of words that belies the wisdom and heft those words carry. She's passionate about travel and chocolates, and any conversation with her will invariably lead to chats about the outdoors life, adventures of the daily and the more milestone sorts, and diving. She'd title this chapter of her life The Time for Quiet Thunder!

When chips in on work calls, it's usually either to showcase his witty quips or to ask some real hard-hitting questions. He makes his own hours, works wizardly magic over all things web, and engineers his own path through life. Beyond all that, however, lies a person who knows how to meet (pun intended) people halfway, and combats adversities with zero resistance. We're all waiting for the movie he promises to make one day!
