The upcoming film The Taj Story, starring Paresh Rawal and directed by Tushar Amrish Goel, has landed in controversy even before its release.
The debate began after the film’s poster showed a Lord Shiva idol emerging from the dome of the Taj Mahal, along with a caption questioning accepted history. Many social media users accused the makers of promoting propaganda and sensationalising a sensitive historical subject.
As criticism grew, the makers issued a clarification on X. They stated that the film does not deal with religious claims and does not suggest that a Shiv temple exists inside the Taj Mahal. According to them, the movie focuses only on historical facts and viewers should watch it before forming opinions.
Still, reactions remain divided. Some call it creative storytelling, while others see it as deliberate provocation.
The film is scheduled to release on 31st October.
