• HA:BI HOME •

A spacious 3BHK, well lit and ventilated apartment, had to be transformed into a home for an urban family of three. While the couple are both IT professionals, their daughter is an MBBS aspirant and a budding artist. The essence of family seemed to be blend of rigour reflecting in their professional choices and gentle humane aspect reflecting in their personal pursuits. This is the blend that we chose to embody while designing the interior for them. The integral idea of the design was to define the spaces with tenacity &dignity of vertical lines, while infusing warmth in the spaces in it's experience.

" A vertical line is dignity. The horizontal line is peacefully. The obtuse angle is action. That's universal, it is primary " - Janet Collins.

•PAVILION•

The pavilion is designed as a retreat spot away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is planned as a contemporary public hub with a play of levels and an assortment of public/semi-public amenities to explore and encourage community living.

The central court sits against the surrounding volume to create a focus for activities and gatherings and bridge the volume at the upper level to create interesting vistas and visual connectivity across levels.

The terrace slab was overlaid to enclose the volume of the active zone with a counter volume in the terrace for private activities.

•THE OFFICE•

The idea is to feature views of the foliage and fields around the main office in the workplace. The courtyard lets in plenty of natural light, resulting in a dynamic shift of perspective throughout the day and effective ventilation.

The addition of a central courtyard- a massive articulated void with a stairway, surrounded by open, semi-open and closed areas— alters the perception of the space and experience. Wide, linear landscape terraces on the top floor offer transitional outdoor space.

•THE POTPOURI•

Amid southern Bangalore, the proposed restaurant is nestled in a coconut grove. It is designed to be a social hub for the community to gather, celebrate, unwind and rewind. The design draws Inspiration from a traditional village square

The design's core is a void - "Open to sky courtyard" occupies the very heart of the space. The court is designed to resemble a lively town square while also providing an interactive dining experience, indigenous giving spatial openness while maintaining the user privacy.

Diébédo Francis Kéré returned to Gando in Burkina Faso to visit two schools he designed, built using local materials and labour, with an emphasis on combatting the region's crippling heat.
