Ovoid

A laterite pavilion, unfolded quietly out of green.

Set within the refreshing scents of a 100-acre coffee plantation in Mudigere, Chikmagalur.
The house is revealed gradually rather than announced. A laterite-clad driveway draws one in, gently softening into broad steps and seaters that shape an entrance court. An in-between space where arrival pauses and the landscape is allowed to seep into daily life.
The linear form, aligned carefully along the north–south axis, unfolds as a sequence of sheltered thresholds and open verandahs. Generous sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and outside, allowing soft eastern light to wash the living spaces in the mornings while extending the house into a lawn that slowly fades into the coffee plantation beyond.
Filtered western facades temper the harsher sun, maintaining constant visual connection with the surrounding greenery. A continuous roof binds the spaces below, offering shade, shelter, and climatic comfort. During the monsoon, the roof profile collects rainwater and guides it back to the earth, quietly completing a cycle between built form and land.

• HA:BI HOME •

A spacious 3BHK, well lit and ventilated apartment, had to be transformed into a home for an urban family of three. While the couple are both IT professionals, their daughter is an MBBS aspirant and a budding artist. The essence of family seemed to be blend of rigour reflecting in their professional choices and gentle humane aspect reflecting in their personal pursuits. This is the blend that we chose to embody while designing the interior for them. The integral idea of the design was to define the spaces with tenacity &dignity of vertical lines, while infusing warmth in the spaces in it's experience.

•PAVILION•

The pavilion is designed as a retreat spot away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is planned as a contemporary public hub with a play of levels and an assortment of public/semi-public amenities to explore and encourage community living.

The central court sits against the surrounding volume to create a focus for activities and gatherings and bridge the volume at the upper level to create interesting vistas and visual connectivity across levels.

The terrace slab was overlaid to enclose the volume of the active zone with a counter volume in the terrace for private activities.
