The two extraordinary evolutionary leaps on our planet were: 1. Human self awareness and 2. Our tryst with our ignorance - leading us to investing in knowing everything... what an awesome inspirational event!!!

Re-posting this amazing article - Very interesting to read this view by the great thinker/ scientist in perspective, today. And, it reveals how deeply problematic this human condition (of tradition dictating our racial outlook and even other human emotions) is... Seven decades later, when a lot of ground has been gained, we find, the condition has spread even more... and our gains fall disproportionately short. The effects of tradition are fundamentally deep and ingrained somewhere beyond reason and rationality... and may need years of cleansing, healing or breakaway shifts to become a better human race.

I am writing as one who has lived among you in America only a little more than ten years. And I am writing seriously and warningly. Many readers may ask: 'What right has he to speak about things which concern us alone, and which no newcomer should touch?'

To finding your own Answers - One of the best articles I have read in a long long time... Bibek Debroy makes a compelling case for us to ask ourselves questions... questions like 'Who am I' and 'What is the purpose of my life'.... The answers are often not about the knowledge that we know, but what we choose to do with that knowledge. Drawing from the sublime Sanskrit poetry of the Ramayana and the brilliant complexity of the Mahabharat... he urges you not to be judgemental and not look for universal answers. Just what it means to you.

Like many of us, I grew up with the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Born, and initially bred, in distant Shillong, the Ramayana brought me my first literary prize, so to speak. I was around eight ...

Less women teachers in science and maths = less girls wanting to study science and maths, a very vicious problem! An article by Kalpana Sharma (based on a ERU study by Kameshwari Jandhyala and Vimala Ramachandran)

We celebrate Teachers’ Day on September 5 every year. But is teaching in India, especially in schools, considered a desirable or respectable profession? Do parents encourage their children to become teachers? Or is it

Sharing a link to a film on hydropower in Sikkim. Email from filmmaker below.
---
Greetings,
I recently completed a short documentary film on the HEP development along the Teesta river in Sikkim, and I thought it might be of use to you and the campaign you run in regards to protecting the river. In the wake of its recent release online, Taming the Teesta has been viewed over 8000 times on Vimeo and has been shared by multiple news outlets.
Teesta focuses on the hydroelectric dam projects that have sprung into existence along the Teesta River. It follows those who have been directly affected by the hydropower development as well as those who are fighting back at the ill-planned and damaging mega-projects. Here is the Taming the Teesta link: https://vimeo.com/128624202 and here is the link to one of the interviews I've been asked to do since the release of Teesta, this one by the Darjeeling Chronicle: https://www.facebook.com/TheDarjeelingChronicle/videos/560224850781967/ .
With kind regards,
Taylor Graham

Today, being “Eco-minded” is an integral part of living consciously. `GREEN` is the new Black and we must embrace environment-friendly choices and lifestyle.

In the packaging industry, Eco-friendly material- corrugated cardboard is used for its various interesting benefits. Corrugated cardboard is made from renewable and recycled materials. It is energy efficient to create; re-usable, recyclable and bio-degradable.

Corrugated cardboard can also be used in commercial and retail interiors. It has excellent printing and graphics capabilities and is therefore used for marketing, brand awareness and promotion.

Here is a different take on corrugated cardboard:
A stationery holding wall-shelf that is easy to assemble and made from corrugated cardboard. Cardboard cylinders from paper-towels, empty soft-drink plastic bottles are painted and used as pencil holders. The shelf can be arranged in different ways due to its glue-free joinery between vertical and horizontal planes.
