This is the fourth post in the series of tips for career success.

Many of us believe that once we enter a specific job field, we’re gonna be stuck in it the till we retire. Nothing could be farther from truth. It’s perfectly okay to switch careers if you’re not satisfied with the current one. It may seem a bit daunting and a nearly impossible task but if you have a clear idea about where to switch, and have invested enough time in researching, introspecting, and evaluating, you should be able to do it without any snags.

One of the smartest things to do if you’re serious about your career is joining associations and groups relating to your industry. It keeps you updated with the latest developments in the industry and is also an excellent arena for networking.

Turning down an opportunity to attend a training course is one of the career blunders you can commit. Not only will you send a negative message to the management by doing so but also lose out on a golden opportunity to upgrade yourself.

Keeping your CV updated always is a no-brainer, right? 🙃Yet many of us procrastinate the task.

When you consider taking up a new job, money or remuneration alone should not be the parameter. It’s important to consider your professional goal, value-addition to your resumé, opportunities for skill development, etc. before you opt for such a job.

We look forward to your feedback/thoughts/suggestions on our posts.🙂🙂🙂

Hey!

Here’s the third in the series of posts of tips for career success. Frankly, how I wish we had access to such guidelines when we ventured into our careers and were wet behind the ears, decades ago !! 🙂

One of the common mistakes I’ve seen people do is bad-mouth their ex-boss the moment they quit their current job. Realize that trash talk will backfire and remember, it simply never makes you look good as a candidate.🤫

I’ve come across many a graduate – armed with a professional degree or otherwise – balking at taking up an entry-level job. Such positions help you learn the ins and outs of the business, gain experience that will prove invaluable later in your career, and if you are a good learner, you would have your foot in the door whenever a higher-ranking position comes up.

Make sure you are abreast with the latest developments in the industry if you want to broaden your horizons. Read trade journals and network within your industry by joining associations which will give you opportunities to meet people within your industry which will be a source of information and lead to professional growth.👨‍💼👨‍💼

Be positive and pro-active, always. Now, that’s a no-brainer, right?🙃

In the course of your work, it’s possible that you seek your colleague’s or subordinate's help in completing a task. It’s very important to verbalize your gratitude People respond to an appreciation of good work ‘cos it enhances their sense of self-worth leading to increased satisfaction and productivity.👊

Actions speak louder than words. Make sure when you get a chance, you extend a helping hand as well.

What are the most frequently asked job interview questions and how do you answer them??

On getting an interview call, most of us are assailed by doubts as to how to prepare for the upcoming interview. It's always prudent to consider the probable questions and prepare and practice suitable answers before you come face-to-face with the interview panel.

While we wouldn't recommend memorizing the answers, it wouldn't hurt to practice the answers in front of a mirror. Most of these are simple questions but you'd be surprised how even the simplest of questions can sometimes stump the smartest of candidates!!
