T. Venkanna (uncensored) at Gallery Maskara
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
T. Venkanna explores the idea of s*xual fantasies as escapism. His erotic artworks subvert stereotypical representations of s*x and gender, touching upon ideas of violence, pain and desire. “Sex as pleasure—that’s not my concern or intent,” Venkanna tells Vogue India.

Venkanna works with a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and performance, but we especially love his hand-embroidered artworks (pictured), that are created in collaboration with a team of karigars.

🌸 Meet me in the garden by

In the summer months, parks become a place of pilgrimage for those on their evening walk or “shaam ki sair.” Tree-shaded nooks offer couples a safe space to share intimacy, in a society that still frowns upon–or even penalises–public displays of affection.” Follow the link in our bio to see the entire photo essay.
