We skipped Women’s Day yesterday.

Mostly because the internet turns it into flowers and promo codes.

It’s sad that most men and women alike don’t know why we mark the day.

The day traces back to the suffragette movement -
women organising for the right to vote, work and exist in public life.

More than a century later, that fight isn’t exactly finished. But maybe we can remind ourselves daily why the day exists, so we can keep up the good fight.

A day late felt more honest. Here’s looking to a future where we don’t need to mark such a day.

Wordle didn’t ruin dating apps.
But it sure feels like it shrank our answers to five letter words.

“Trust”
“Drive”
“Pizza”
“Sleep”

Most prompts. Just a word or two. Zero context.

Women, especially, are tired of decoding vague effort and filling in blanks.

So yes, we made our bio prompts 70 characters minimum.
In fact, our first messages too.

Because adults deserve full sentences.

Bombay, we’re home.

To the city collectively hated upon during most waking moments. The traffic, the rent, the ‘never sleeping’, the incessant digging. In our heart of hearts though? A city we’ve always loved, and will never cease to.

A city in which we’ve all loved, lost, and still harbour hope for it to happen all over again.

This edit is an ode to Bombay, and a quiet nod to Bally Sagoo, whose Noorie has lived rent-free in our hearts for decades. Like Bombay, will do so forever.

SlideSocial was shaped outside Versova tapris, in Bandra gullies, and at Totos over a whiskey too many.

Here’s to Bombay, with love.

We didn’t set out to build another dating app.

We set out to question why dating feels exhausting, disposable, and strangely lonely on platforms designed to “connect” people.

What we kept finding was this:
when apps ask very little of people, people give very little back.

So SlideSocial was built to ask for intent.
To reward presence.
To slow things down just enough for something real to begin.

It’s not about more matches.
It’s about better beginnings - clearer profiles, fewer concurrent conversations, kinder endings, and a community that shapes itself.

This won’t be for everyone.
And that’s okay.
