I built a free tool and did not put an email form in front of it.

Not an oversight. The form was the thing I wanted gone.

A gated PDF gets downloaded once and forgotten. A tool that does a job you have every week gets bookmarked.
You don't need someone's email address if your URL is already in their bookmarks bar.

New "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬" issue on un-gated tools as the funnel, plus the two rebuilds it took to make mine work.

You wrote the 12-page guide. Put it behind an email form.

I ran 22 cold DMs off a clean free-trial funnel. Real replies, real conversations, and one honest answer: nobody was shopping for a fix.

That wasn't a product problem. It was a sales lesson I only got because I'd built something a stranger could respond to.
A lead magnet isn't top-of-funnel content. It's a sales rep that runs while you sleep.
