By 1991, a factory floor in Odisha was stitching for Europe.

Magnum Apparels Pvt. Ltd. had grown from idea to industry — manufacturing clothes, including winter jackets, for international brands and exporting them straight to Norway.

Rows of machines. Hundreds of hands. One shared focus: garments precise enough to survive a Norwegian winter and meet the standards of the brands wearing our stitching.

This photograph is from the shop floor of that era — the hum of Singer machines, the quiet concentration, the quality checks that had to be right the first time, every time.

It's easy to talk about "global exports" as a line in a company profile. It's another thing to have lived it — thread by thread, jacket by jacket, from Bhubaneswar to the Nordics.

A steady government career. A respected place in academia. Two of the safest paths anyone could choose in India, back then.

Our founders walked away from both.

Mr. Ramesh Mahapatra had a decade behind him at IPICOL — Odisha's own government body for industrial promotion.

Dr. Geeta Rani Padhi was building a career in academics, teaching at the Regional College of Education.

By any conventional measure, they had already "made it."

But they wanted something a government post or a faculty chair could never give them: the chance to build something that outlived a career — an enterprise that could put Odisha's name on the map and hand thousands of young people the power to shape their own destiny.

So they gave it up. For a small consultancy firm called Magnum.

42 years later:
→ 12 business verticals — from Seafood and HDPE Pipes to Real Estate, IT and Media → 2,000+ employees, many with us for over two decades → ₹500+ Crore in turnover → MDB Trust, funding schools, orphanages and community welfare across Odisha

Not because they chased a market. Because they never stopped chasing the reason they started.

Some people measure success by what they gained. Our founders measured it by what they were willing to give up — to build something bigger than themselves.

Six months. New milestones, stronger partnerships, and one purpose that continues to guide us.

As we reflect on the first half of 2026, the word that defines our journey isn’t achievement—it’s gratitude.

Gratitude to Odisha, the land where Magnum Group began over four decades ago, and to the people, partners, policymakers, customers, and communities who continue to be an integral part of our journey.

H1 2026 has reaffirmed our belief that businesses can be globally competitive while remaining deeply rooted in their values and their place of origin.

🌊 Global Seafood Marketplace 2026, Barcelona – Magnum Sea Foods proudly represented Odisha on the global stage, reinforcing our commitment to delivering world-class seafood through internationally recognized standards, including EU, USFDA, HACCP, and BAP compliance.

🌾 FAB Summit 2026, Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology – Participating alongside industry leaders, policymakers, and academia strengthened our conviction that Odisha has the potential to emerge as a national leader in food processing, aquaculture, agri-tech, and biotechnology.

🏆 Corporate Excellence Award 2026 and CSR Excellence Award – These recognitions belong to every member of the Magnum family whose dedication, integrity, and commitment continue to drive our growth and create meaningful impact.

🎤 Supporting Inclusive Leadership – Through active participation in industry platforms such as INWEC, we remain committed to fostering conversations around inclusive leadership, collaboration, and sustainable growth.

As we continue to grow, our vision remains unchanged—to build integrated value chains, strengthen partnerships with farmers and fishing communities, invest in innovation, create employment opportunities, and proudly showcase Odisha’s capabilities on the global stage.

A proud moment for Odisha’s export ecosystem. 🇮🇳🤝🇬🇧

Honoured to represent Odisha’s Blue Economy and export sector at the historic India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) event hosted by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

The implementation of the India–UK CETA marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral trade and unlocking new opportunities for Indian businesses. For Odisha, this agreement has the potential to accelerate growth in seafood exports, food processing, pharmaceuticals, logistics, manufacturing, and value-added industries.

As we continue to build stronger global partnerships, collaboration between government and industry will be instrumental in enhancing competitiveness, attracting investment, driving innovation, and creating sustainable employment.
