📊 The most common mistake I see in BOQ preparation:

Not reconciling concrete volume against steel weight.

Every senior QS I've worked with follows this simple rule:
Concrete volume × Steel thumb rule = Approx steel weight

The check:
• Slabs: 80–100 kg per m³ concrete
• Beams: 100–120 kg per m³ concrete
• Columns: 100–120 kg per m³ concrete
• Foundations: 120–150 kg per m³ concrete

If your BBS shows 180 kg/m³ for a slab — something is wrong.
Check the BBS. Check the concrete. Check the drawing.

This simple cross-check has saved projects from under-ordering steel
or from inflated BOQs that get rejected at tender stage.

What is one simple check you always do before finalising a BOQ?
