'In the Woods' is an environmental education program, at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai. Most learners take advantage of our one-day program, while some decide that a shorter stay will work for them.
After spending time at 'In The Woods', living and learning together, learners develop a sense of community, a confidence in themselves and an appreciation for others that carries over to the school/college community.
A typical day tour begins with a hearty breakfast followed by a chance to clean up and get ready for the day. Learners will spend the rest of the morning with their Field Groups, exploring the site and experiencing new challenges and discoveries. After lunch, learners have a little free time for rest and recreation and then get to choose two Special Interest classes. And then a variety of evening activities before concluding the tour.
'In The Woods' activities are specifically designed to challenge students to build on their strengths, recognize their limitations and develop their full potential. Placing students in a different context from one they normally find themselves in, is a powerful learning tool.
The outdoor education and learning opportunities provide a range of experiences that enable students to develop the qualities and attributes that they will need to survive and thrive in a changing world. These key qualities and attributes are:
Confidence
Creativity
Tenacity
Resilience
Adaptability
Effective Co-working
