The SmartSparks Angel Network was set up to boost startups with that first tiny spark they all need. The word ‘smart’ was prefixed to refer to the intellectual capital and guidance that they provide startups, while 'sparks' refer to the nature of their investments in terms of ticket size, number of investments, and the early stage they invest in.
Since its inception, the network has ignited dozens of startups and is by far Kerala's most active angel network in terms of investments, deal sharing, and pitching sessions. However, as the network has grown and has engaged with diverse communities, it was noticed that the name ‘SmartSparks’ can be difficult for some people to recognize, recall or even pronounce at times.
This, as well as a few other factors, led the network to rebrand itself as Sparks Angel Network (www.sparks.vc) to better reflect its focus and continued efforts to ignite the startup ecosystem with the sparks it needs.
