The concept of ‘convenience food’ has been popular in the West for long. Owing to the effect of globalisation perhaps, the food habits of Indians have been changing.

The busy lifestyles of the millennial workforce, spike in gross family income, and the concept of nuclear families gaining ground have contributed to the Indian ready-to-eat (RTE) food segment rising significantly in recent years. The Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing work-life changes have also provided a boost to this segment.

Why are they So Eco-Friendly?

Cheap polypropylene bags are fantastic for the environment. They are reusable, easy to clean, completely recyclable and sometimes, can be recycled again. These bags can be washed in cold water and they are often made out of 5-type plastic. If you reuse and recycle them, then you could save thousands of plastic bags from sitting at the landfill. Another thing that you should know about these bags is that they can be created using far less energy when compared to cotton bags. If more companies simply produced these bags when compared to cotton bags or even standard plastic bags, then the pollutants that are released into the air would drastically reduce.
