The status of a student in Ukraine in 2026 covers both academic opportunities and adaptation to wartime conditions. The country continues to be a popular educational center: as of January 1, 2026, more training in Ukraine 21 200 international students.
The main aspects of student life
Educational process: The training takes place in full-time, remote or mixed formats, depending on the region and the presence of shelters in educational institutions. For medical specialties, the emphasis remains on clinical practice, although the war has created certain difficulties for full-fledged practical exercises.

Information for foreign applicants
For admission to Ukrainian universities, foreign citizens need to go through Ukrainian State Center for International Education:
Submission of documents: The main sets are open to 30 April and 1 November.
Invitation to training: The official document required to obtain a student visa (type D).
Temporary residence permit (TRP): Issued after arrival and enrollment, allowing you to legally reside in the country for the period of study.
