Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that there is a possibility that the coal export faucet could be opened next week.
According to him, the opening of the export faucet next week can be done if the stock of coal for domestic purposes, especially for the PT PLN (Persero) power plant can be met.
"Yes, if our stock and reserves have met the needs of PLN and domestically, we can export," he said when asked by reporters at his office, Friday (07/01/2022).
"If it is fulfilled in the following weeks, there is already certainty that 5-6 million can be exported," he continued.
He said that his party communicates with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) every day to monitor the development of this issue.
"We do remembrance. God willing, the sooner the better (opening the export faucet). I communicate with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources every day, hoping that domestic needs will still exist, and exports will work," he said.
He also mentioned that many countries have submitted objection letters regarding the ban on Indonesia's coal exports. Moreover, he continued, it is still winter and some countries have an energy crisis, so that Indonesia's coal supply is still needed.
"I know that many countries have sent letters lest there be an export ban because it is winter and the energy crisis. We are also responsible for the world's interests, but we must quickly fill domestic stocks, then we can export," he explained.
As is known, the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has taken a policy to ban coal exports for the period 1 to 31 January 2022 for holders of Mining Business Permits (IUP) or IUPKs for the Production Operation stage, and IUPK as Continuation of Contract Operations/ Agreements and PKP2B as a result of the crisis in coal supply for PLN power plants and private power producers ( Independent Power Producer / IPP), following the critical supply of PLN's coal.
Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ridwan Djamaluddin said that this step must be taken and is temporary in order to maintain security and stability of electricity and the national economy.
Yesterday, Thursday (06/01/2022), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announced the revoking of 2,078 mineral and coal Mining Business Permits (IUP). The President said that the revocation of the IUP was due to the fact that he had never submitted a work plan.
"Today, as many as 2,078 mining and coal mining companies' permits have been revoked because we have never submitted a work plan, permits that have been given for years but have not been carried out and this has caused the use of natural resources to be taken hostage to improve people's welfare," said Jokowi, Thursday (06/01/2022). ).
Jokowi said the government would continue to improve the governance of natural resources so that it is equitable, transparent, and fair in order to correct injustices and damage to nature.
"Forest mining permits as well as state land use continue to be evaluated thoroughly. Permits that are not executed, are not productive, are transferred to other parties and are not in accordance with their designations and regulations, we will revoke them," he said.
