Away from noise, closer to people and ideas.

Nestled in the Kalvarayan Hills, Aalampannai organic farm is a quiet serene environment surrounded by nature. We are now opening up the farm space for small groups to conduct residential programs, team retreats, workshops, and reflective gatherings.

With farm trails, treks, open seating, cool weather, and over 2,000+ trees spread across 20 acres, the space offers groups a chance to slow down, reconnect, and learn away from everyday distractions.

A space designed for conversations, reflection, and shared experiences.

Summer holidays turned into joyful days of fun, creativity, games, and shared experiences for children from Poondikadu, Thekkampattu, and Kariyalur villages in the Kalvarayan Hills. Around 35 children participated in the 10-day summer camp conducted from 17th to 28th May 2026.

The camp included creative art sessions, science exploration, mental health awareness activities, and outdoor games — creating a safe and encouraging space where children could express themselves and build confidence beyond the classroom. Storytelling, relaxation activities, teamwork, and nature-based experiences-built friendship, and curiosity among the children.

For the participating children, these camps became spaces to laugh, connect, and simply enjoy being children.

Because Not all impact needs big funding!

Through Aram Porul’s Nano Grants, we are trying to get help for 14 small grass root NGOs across Tamil Nadu, each with an essential, specific need in the range of ₹10,000–₹25,000.

These are small but critical needs. The requests vary - from water purifiers to kitchen garden set up, from essential office supplies to sanitary pads, medical consumables, chairs and tables , etc. - with each one directly supporting a different organisation’s work.

If you’re looking to make a simple, one time support but direct impact, this is a good place to start.

DM for more details.

On the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (April 6), we highlight the Sports for Wellness component of the All is Well mental health program implemented by Aram Porul with support of Omega Forum For Social Impact (OFSI).

In the Kalvarayan Hills, this initiative engages students and communities through school-based sports sessions, community marathons, and sports activities for women. Through these engagements, sports is used as a medium to build life skills such as teamwork, resilience, communication, and self-discipline, while also supporting mental well-being.

Across schools and communities, we are seeing increased participation, improved peer connections, and a growing sense of confidence among children and women. 🏆⚽🤾🏽‍♀️

This Women’s Day, we spent time across the Kalvarayan Hills engaging with schools and communities through a series of activities. From postcard exchanges in schools that aimed to build healthier relationships among adolescents, to community pledges on dignity and respect for women — each activity carried a purpose. A photo booth and mehendi event brought a festive spirit, while a throwball match for village women — a first of its kind — created space for participation and joy. Together, these efforts are steps towards creating awareness about dignity for women. We hope the buzz we created around better mental well-being for women continues to echo in the hills.

Inbam Katral Maiyam — A Space for Happiness

In many of the places we work, learning does not end at school — it often stops there.

Inbam Katral Maiyam is Aram Porul’s latest initiative to address this gap and create meaningful learning spaces for tribal children in some of the most remote hamlets of the Kalvarayan Hills, where access to structured academic support and exposure remains limited.

Inbam Katral Maiyam is not just another tuition centre. It is a space for happy learning, thinking, and growing. Through daily two-hour sessions, children come together to strengthen their foundational learning, while also engaging in fun-filled activities such as storytelling, reading, weekend life skills sessions, and exposure trips. Today, we are operating 10 such centres.

We hope to make Inbam Katral Maiyam a space that encourages curiosity, self-expression, and a sense of responsibility. More than a learning centre, the Inbam Katral Maiyam becomes a space where children begin to find their voice — and slowly, their confidence in shaping their own future.

Strengthening Monitoring & Evaluation Capacity for Grassroots NGOs

On February 10–11 in Trichy, Aram Porul conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework workshop for the NGO partners of the Omega Forum For Social Impact (OFSI).

The workshop was designed to help grassroots organisations strengthen their ability to develop and manage internal monitoring and evaluation systems, an area that is often critical for program effectiveness and long-term sustainability.

Many grassroots NGOs bring deep commitment and passion to their work. However, structured systems for monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting are not always well developed, making it harder to demonstrate impact and strengthen program learning. The workshop focused on introducing practical tools and approaches that organisations can integrate into their everyday work.

A total of 18 participants from 10 NGOs attended the training. The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Prasanna, Director, Aram Porul and Ms. Neeta - Lead - Monitoring & Evaluation, Aram Porul, through a hands-on workshop format. Participants were introduced to the Logical Framework Approach (LFA), the fundamentals of monitoring and evaluation, and methods to align program budgets with planned activities. The sessions also explored the deeper purpose — the “why” behind monitoring and evaluation — and how it strengthens program impact, accountability, and learning.

The workshop also became a space for peer learning, with participants sharing experiences and perspectives from their work in areas such as gender advocacy, health, domestic violence prevention, and women’s empowerment.

As one participant, Priya, reflected, the workshop created a valuable opportunity for organisations working in different contexts to come together with a shared commitment to strengthen their programs and improve their impact.

At Aram Porul, such engagements are part of our broader work in supporting NGOs and institutions through capacity building, organisational development, and strengthening systems that help programs demonstrate and deepen their impact.
