“The Null Hypothesis is written as H₀.
It represents:
✅ No change
✅ No effect
✅ No difference
Think of it as the ‘default assumption.’
In simple words:
‘Nothing unusual is happening.’
Example:
Suppose a pharmaceutical company introduces a new tablet and claims it reduces headache faster.
The null hypothesis says:
👉 ‘The new tablet does NOT reduce headache faster than the old tablet.’
So the null hypothesis always assumes the current situation remains true.”
“Now let’s understand the Alternate Hypothesis.
The Alternate Hypothesis is written as H₁ or Ha.
It represents:
✅ There IS an effect
✅ There IS a change
✅ There IS a difference
Using the same tablet example:
The alternate hypothesis says:
👉 ‘The new tablet reduces headache faster than the old tablet.’
So the alternate hypothesis supports the claim we want to prove.”
