Apparat - Electronic/Alternative Music

Information on the artist: Born in 1978, Apparat is the stage name for Sascha Ring, a German electronic musician living in Berlin who was previously a co-owner of Sh*tkatapult records. Active since 1996, he started out with dance floor-oriented techno, he later started to create ambient music and more recently became "more interested in designing sounds than beats". He released his album "Multifunktionsebene" in 2001 and "Duplex" in 2004. In 2004, he appeared at a John Peel session. The tracks from this session were rerecorded and reworked in the studio and released as Silizium EP in 2005, as a tribute. He collaborated with Ellen Allien in 2003 on the album "Berlinette", and again in 2006 on the album "Orchestra of Bubbles". In 2007, he formed his own band to play the album "Walls" live. Raz Ohara joined him playing the stage piano and Jörg Waehner on drums. Next to playing these live shows, he continued to play his solo live sets, touring with Transforma Visuals. In May 2009, he released the self-titled album with Modeselektor under the name "Moderat" on BPitch Control. They have collaborated previously on an EP named Auf Kosten Der Gesundheit which was released as a limited 12" in 2002. In April 2009, he received the Qwartz Dancefloor (Electronic Music Award). Apparat's single "Holdon" features in the trailer for the 2010 Teton Gravity Research ski film "Light the Wick". In 2011, he signed with the British Mute Records label, where he released his new record "The Devil's Walk", named after a political poem by romantic English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, in September. His track "Goodbye", featuring Soap&Skin, was featured in a climactic scene in the Season 4 finale of Breaking Bad. His track "Black Water" was featured in episode 2 in series 6 of Skins (TV series). Another track: "Ash/Black Veil", also featured on the 2011 snowboard documentary 'The Art of Flight'.

The first ever international Bboying championship in India to select BOTY India finals to battle in BOTY South Asia and Finals in France. Battle of the Year is now happening in India and that’s got to be real thrill and entertainment.



A team from Singapore "RADIKAL FORCE" has made it to the Asian qualifiers after beating Crew from Thailand and India.

Bgal Maria from "BEAT HEROS" Thailand has wielded the Solo Championship Title.

As the UK B-Boy Championships came down to India for the first time last week via the Zomba Beats presented India Showcaseof ‘The Greatest Battle On Earth’ we witnessed great turnouts and even greater passion amongst b-boys all over the country.The competition kicked off in the south, with judges AJ-47 and Spin of London’s Soul Mavericks Crew first conducting a workshop and then judging the regional crew and solo qualifiers in Chennai.With almost 40 competitors, it was B-Boy Btrixx who won a spot in the Mumbai finale among the solo participants and it was Bengaluru’s Graffiti ReVlution who won the crew battle. Zu Boo of Graffiti ReVlution did tell us that even though it was just one battle, they felt it was a close one. He also took part in the solo rounds, and told us that he enjoyed the vibe and would not be forgetting it any time soon.
