Wire-Cut Bricks vs Other Bricks: Which Is Better for Framed Structures? | Construction Tips

Can you use any type of brick in a framed structure? Yes, because the walls in a framed structure generally serve as partition walls rather than load-bearing walls. The structural load is transferred from the slab to the beams, then to the columns, and finally to the foundation.

In this video, we explain the different types of bricks used in construction, including country bricks, chamber bricks, and wire-cut bricks. We also discuss why Silent Valley Construction uses wire-cut red bricks in Specifications 2, 2A, and 3.

Why wire-cut bricks?

Rebound Hammer Test on M35 Concrete Columns | Concrete Strength Testing at Site

How do we check concrete quality before proceeding with roof concreting?

In this video, we visit a commercial building project featuring a post-tension slab, designed for longer spans with fewer columns. Before starting roof concreting, our team performs a Rebound Hammer Test on the cast columns to assess the concrete's surface hardness and estimate its compressive strength.

The video explains:

* Why structural columns are critical in building construction.
* How the Rebound Hammer Test is performed.
* Why surface dust and loose concrete must be removed before testing.
* Why multiple readings are taken at different points.
* How the average rebound value is interpreted using a graph.
* How the test supports quality checks and helps contractors analyze their construction work.

For this project, M35-grade concrete was used for the columns. The test is part of our periodic site quality checks and helps us review our construction practices.

UPVC vs PVC Pipes: Which Is Better for Water Supply Lines? | Step-Clamp Method

In this project, we have provided an RCC overhead water tank with the space below it designed for use as a storeroom or for installing pressure pumps.

The video also explains why UPVC pipes are advisable for pressurized water supply lines, while CPVC pipes are used for concealed and hot-water lines. We also discuss the importance of using step-clamps for vertical plumbing lines, maintaining a gap between the wall and pipe for easier maintenance and future replacement.

Proper pipe installation and spacing can help reduce dampness around wall-pipe junctions and minimize long-term maintenance issues.

Why We Don’t Manually Mix Concrete on Site? | Mixer Machine for Better Quality

In this Specification 2A duplex villa project, the first-floor column work is in progress. One important workmanship practice followed by Silent Valley Construction is using a motorized mixer machine instead of manually mixing concrete.

Even when cement, sand, and aggregate are measured correctly, manual mixing may not always provide uniform mixing. A mixer machine helps achieve better consistency from batch to batch.

Concrete quality depends not only on the materials used, but also on proper proportioning, mixing, placing, and compaction. The same principle is followed for plastering work, where a plastering machine is used for consistent mixing.

Good workmanship is not just about using more cement—it is about following the right process at every stage of construction.

Why We Used AAC Blocks in This G+2 Building? | Pile Foundation & Roof Concreting
📍Location : Keeranatham , Coimbatore
This G+2 residential building follows a different construction combination based on the project’s site conditions.

For the foundation, a pile foundation was selected because the hard stratum was deeper. For the superstructure walls, AAC blocks are being used instead of conventional red or fly ash bricks to help reduce the building’s dead load.

In this site update, we take a look at the progress of the AAC block work, lintel concrete, and roof centering as the project moves towards its next major activity—roof concreting.

The site team also plans the upcoming activities in advance, including bar bending, steel procurement, electrical drawings, and the roof concrete schedule, to ensure smooth ex*****on.
