VIMS Finance Club organised an Expert Talk on the 'Essentials of Securities and Commodities Markets' on 11 August 2026.
The session featured Dr. K. Prabhakaran, Director, Edify EdTech, and SEBI Securities Market Trainer (SMARTs). He is also an empanelled resource person of NCDEX, MCX, NSE, BSE, NISM, CDSL and NCFE.
The programme was enhanced by the Presidential Address given by Dr. A. Valarmathi, Principal/CEO of VIMS, who stressed the importance of financial market awareness and education oriented towards the industry when it comes to developing management professionals who are ready for the future.
Dr. Prabhakaran gave the students useful advice regarding the basic principles of securities and commodities markets, how the markets operate, the various investment options available, and the practical side of financial markets. The interactive portion of the session enabled the students to link the concepts they had learned in class with actual market practices and the career prospects in the financial industry.
The event provided students with a useful opportunity to learn, to take part in discussions, and to gain some practical experience of the ever-changing world of financial markets.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell), VIMS successfully organised an insightful Expert Talk for the MBA Batch 2025–27 on 8 August 2026.
The session on “Intrapreneurship 2.0: Building Startups Inside Corporates” offered students a practical perspective on how entrepreneurial thinking can be nurtured within established organisations. The session highlighted the importance of innovation, creativity, opportunity recognition, calculated risk-taking, and building startup-like ventures within corporate environments.
The session was led by Dr. S. A. Rahmath Ameena Begum, Master Trainer, TNYIEDP (Tamil Nadu), Principal In-Charge & Head, Department of Business Administration, Wavoo Wajeeha Women’s College of Arts and Science, Kayalpatnam, Thoothukudi.
The engaging interaction encouraged students to think beyond conventional career paths and explore how they can become innovators and change-makers within organisations.

Be an Entrepreneur | Inspiring the Spirit of Enterprise
As part of the Student Induction Programme for the MBA Batch 2026–28, the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Cell of Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (VIMS) organized an inspiring session titled “Be an Entrepreneur” on Day 10 – 6 August 2026.
The session featured Mr. Nila Arumugam, Managing Director, Nila Group of Companies, and Mr. J. C. Vishal, Director, Nano Business Ventures Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights into entrepreneurship, business opportunities, innovation, and the entrepreneurial mindset.
