The Academic Council Meeting of VIMS was held on 12th May 2026 under the chairmanship of Dr. A. Valarmathi, Principal. She welcomed the gathering and presented an overview of the institute's recent activities. The meeting witnessed the active participation of academic experts, university nominees, industry representatives, the Controller of Examinations and faculty members.
The external members of the Academic Council included Dr. S. Murugavel, Professor and Head, Department of Physics, Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology, Vellore; Dr. M. Senthil, Professor, Department of Management Studies, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore; Dr. D. Kavitha, Professor, Department of Management Studies, PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore; Dr. P. Karthikeyan, Professor, Kongu Engineering College; Dr. B. Adalarasu, Professor, Nehru Institute of Information Technology and Management, Coimbatore; and Mr. Puneeth Krishnan, Retired SBU Telecommunication Head & Consultant.
During the meeting, the external members provided valuable suggestions and recommendations related to curriculum enrichment, academic excellence, research and development activities, industry-institute interaction, skill enhancement initiatives, value-added courses, student development programmes, placement-oriented training, and innovative teaching-learning practices.
The members also emphasised strengthening research culture, promoting interdisciplinary learning, enhancing industry collaborations, and introducing emerging trends in management education to improve student employability and holistic development. The suggestions offered during the meeting will contribute significantly towards the continuous improvement of academic standards and institutional quality initiatives of VIMS.

Vivekananda Institute of Management Studies (Autonomous), Coimbatore, successfully held its First Board of Studies Meeting at 10:00 AM on 7th May 2026, marking an important milestone in strengthening academic excellence and in developing an industry-oriented curriculum.
The meeting was graced by esteemed external members:

* Dr K. Chitra, Principal, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science College for Women, Coimbatore

All faculty participated actively, reflecting VIMS’ commitment to academic innovation and continuous quality improvement. Dr S. Umamaheswari, Professor /Director of Admissions, concluded the meeting by summarizing the key discussion points and expressing gratitude to all participants with a formal vote of thanks.
