Applying for a PAN from outside India? Your documents may require more than just a photocopy.

For NRIs and overseas applicants, PAN and Apostille serve two different purposes. A PAN is your Indian tax identification number, while an Apostille is a form of authentication used for certain public documents intended for use across Hague Convention countries.

Depending on your citizenship, country of residence, and the documents you’re submitting, the documentation and authentication requirements can differ—especially if you’re:

• Living outside India
• Using a foreign residential address
• Submitting a foreign passport or overseas ID
• Applying for a new PAN, correction, or reactivation

Understanding the correct documentation route before applying can help reduce errors, delays, and unnecessary resubmissions.

Why do shares become unclaimed?

Shares usually don’t become unclaimed overnight. It can happen when an investor changes their bank account, mobile number, email address, or residential address, but the updated information doesn’t reach the relevant records.

As a result, dividend payments may fail, important communication may stop, and investments can eventually become difficult to track.

This carousel explains some of the common reasons behind unclaimed shares and highlights why keeping your investment and KYC details updated is important.

3 Simple Ways to Trace & Recover Your Unclaimed Shares

Did you know that if dividends remain unclaimed for 7 consecutive years, the corresponding shares may be transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF)?

Fortunately, you can still claim them by following these three steps:

🔹 Search the Official IEPF Portal
Use your company name, folio number, or DP/Client ID to check whether your shares have been transferred.

🔹 Contact the Company's RTA
The Registrar & Transfer Agent can help verify your shareholding, dividend history, and provide the necessary documentation to begin your claim.

🔹 Review the Company's Investor Relations Page
Many companies publish lists of unclaimed shares and dividends. Cross-check your details and review any notices issued before the transfer.

Recovering your investments doesn't have to be overwhelming. With the right documentation and expert support, the process can be smooth and hassle-free.

At The Wealth Finder, we help investors and families recover their unclaimed shares and dividends with professional guidance throughout the process.

Somewhere in an old cupboard, a steel trunk, or a file your grandfather kept "just in case" — there might be money your family doesn't know it owns. 📜

It's rarely one big red flag. It's small things: an address that changed, a dividend cheque that quietly stopped coming, a certificate nobody recognized while cleaning out a drawer. On their own, they feel like nothing. Together, they're often the first sign of shares that were never claimed.

Swipe through and be honest with yourself — does even ONE of these sound like your family? 👀

That "someday we'll sort it out" pile deserves a second look. Because someday, it might just be worth more than anyone remembers.

🚨 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐄𝐁𝐈 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬

SEBI has reopened a special window for physical share transfers — and the deadline is February 4, 2027.

If you or your parents hold old physical share certificates where the transfer was never completed, rejected, or returned before 2019 — you can now complete it and convert to demat format.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:
Physical shares that remain stuck after this deadline risk being frozen — meaning they cannot be sold, transferred, or used in any way.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞:
🔹 Share certificates are lying in drawers or lockers
🔹 A transfer request was rejected years ago and never followed up
🔹 Inherited shares were never transferred into the heir's name
🔹 An NRI family member has old India holdings that haven't been touched

The solution is straightforward — but paperwork-heavy:

You need to submit the right documents to the company's Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA), get it verified, and have the shares credited to a demat account.

We help families do this every day at 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫.

Don't let a deadline freeze what belongs to you.
