If there's one fitness myth that won't die, it's this one: Lifting weights makes women muscular. Full stop! Women will not look "muscular" if they lift weights -- even heavy ones! People often use the term "muscular" negatively to describe others, typically women, who have large muscles or well-defined physiques.

We need to nix all of these terms from the fitness vernacular because first, women won't bulk up if they start lifting weights.
Second, lifting weights produces many health benefits; third, it's blatantly sexist to think women shouldn't look muscular anyway.

Plateaus can happen to anyone, regardless of what physical shape they're in. Think of the first time you try a new HIIT or cardio workout and the results you feel and see. Now do that same workout for a month or so—repetition is great for memorization, but not necessarily workout effectiveness as both your brain and body are likely to get bored.

If you think you're experiencing a workout plateau, look out for some common symptoms.
"You will stop seeing improvement toward your goals, typically holding onto weight or even gaining weight.
You will also notice you may not recover as quickly.
