INRM Consultants Director, Prof. Ashvani Gosain was invited as a Guest Speaker at the National Seminar on “Climate Resilient Rainwater Management for Water Security”, held on 28 September 2026 at HIPA, Gurugram.

Prof. Ashvani Gosain shared insights on the critical role of urban flood management, rainwater harvesting, climate resilience, and integrated water management in strengthening long-term water security.

His address highlighted the importance of adopting climate-resilient and sustainable approaches to rainwater management, integrating improved planning, scientific modelling, and practical solutions to address increasing urban flood risks and water challenges.

INRM Consultants Director, Prof. Ashvani Gosain was invited to chair the session on Forecasting and Modelling for Water Security session for the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 organized by The Ministry of Jal Shakti at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event served as a global platform for sharing ideas and cross-learning among decision-makers, public representatives, researchers, experts, policymakers, innovators, students, and other stakeholders.

Prof. Ashvani Gosain focused on the integration of hydrological and hydrodynamic modelling, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, remote sensing, GIS, SCADA and real-time data systems for improved water-resource management.

INRM Consultants Director, Prof. Ashvani Gosain emphasized that floods are natural phenomena that cannot be entirely eliminated through structural interventions alone, noting that severe damage occurs primarily because human settlements continuously encroach upon natural river floodplains on Sansad TV's "Mudda Aapka" (broadcast on September 2, 2026), titled (Floods: Crisis and Solutions), specifically addressing the impact of heavy flooding in Nepal on downstream regions like Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Prof. Ashvani Gosain advocated strict enforcement of Floodplain Zoning to regulate development in flood-prone areas. Emphasized timely Early Warning Systems (EWS) to reduce loss of life. Highlighted the need for scientific, location-specific solutions for urban flooding. Cited Patna as an example, recommending sensor-based automated pumping systems to manage water levels and reduce urban waterlogging.

INRM Consultants Director, Prof. Ashvani Gosain was one of the Distinguished Panelist and gave a presentation for the Integrated Water Management for Climate-Resilient and Water-Secure Future held on 20th August, 2026 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi organised by TERI School of Advanced Studies.

The conference provided a valuable interdisciplinary platform to explore scientific advances, innovative technologies, policy frameworks, and successful case studies in climate-resilient water management. Prof. Gosain’s presentation emphasised the need for adaptive and climate-resilient water planning, integrating scenario-based modelling, demand management, groundwater recharge, and real-time monitoring, while highlighting the importance of basin-level coordination, shared data systems, and joint accountability among water-related institutions.

Gosain gave a presentation for the International Conference on Climate-Resilient Dams and Hydro power Infrastructure: Integrating Environmental Sustainability in Planning and Development held on 29-30 January, 2026 at SCOPE Convention Centre, Lodi Road, New Delhi organised by Committee for the International Commission on Large Dams, India (INCOLD).

The conference served as a crucial platform to bring together researchers, engineers, policymakers, and young professionals to discuss climate change impacts on dams and hydro power systems for environmentally sustainable infrastructure in vulnerable regions. Prof. Gosain’s presentation focused on National-scale river flow prediction portal for climate-resilient dams and hydro power planning in India.
