📢 DPDP Act 2023: Government Issues Important Clarifications
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued the Digital Personal Data Protection (Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2026, dated 5 October 2026 and published on 6 October 2026.

The Order introduces two key clarifications:
🔹 1. Children's Data & Persons with Disabilities
Section 9(1) clarifies the wording concerning children and persons with disabilities who have a lawful guardian. Verifiable consent from the parent or lawful guardian, as applicable, is required before processing their personal data.

🔹 2. Data Audit Requirements
Section 10(2)(c)(ii) replaces “audit” with “data audit”, clarifying periodic audit obligations for Significant Data Fiduciaries.

The Government of India has notified the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2026, replacing the earlier 2025 Order.

📅 Notified: 6 April 2026
📅 Implementation: 1 October 2026

This QCO brings a wide range of household, commercial and similar electrical appliances under mandatory BIS compliance.

What Does the New QCO Require?
Covered products must:

✅ Conform to IS 302 (Part 1):2024 / IEC 60335-1:2020
✅ Bear the BIS Standard Mark
✅ Be covered by a BIS licence under Scheme-I of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

Implementation Timeline:
General manufacturers- 1 October 2026
Small enterprises- 1 January 2027
Micro enterprises- 1 April 2027

The proposed standard aims to provide a systematic and consistent methodology for preparing industrial emission inventories, covering:

✅ Collection of activity data
✅ Emission estimation & calculation
✅ Pollution control measures

✅ Documentation & reporting
✅ Periodic updating of inventories
