Insights of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
• Uttar Pradesh: Out of the 80 seats, BJP had secured around 62 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, which declined to only 33 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha Election, a significant difference of 39 seats. While being one of the biggest contributors to the INDIA Bloc, the Samajwadi Party secured as many as 37 seats in 2024 compared to only 5 in 2019. INC had only 1 seat in 2019 but increased to 6 constituencies in the 2024 Lok Sabha Election.
• Rajasthan: In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, NDA secured 25 seats (BJP – 24 and RLP – 1) compared to 14 seats in 2024. The Indian National Congress, which didn’t win a single seat in the previous Lok Sabha election, emerged as a strong competitor to BJP in Rajasthan by winning 8 seats.
• Andhra Pradesh: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured 16 out of the 25 parliamentary constituencies in 2024 which showed a change from 2019 where YSRCP had 22 seats. YSR Congress was only able to win only 4 seats in 2024. BJP with no seat in 2019 was able to covert 3 seats in 2024.
• Gujarat: A state where INC couldn’t win any seat in the 2019 came out strong in one Lok Sabha in 2024, securing a win from the Banaskantha Parliamentary constituency (Genene Nagaji Thakor won with a margin of 30K votes, defeating Dr. Rekhaben Hiteshbhai Chaudhari from BJP).
• Kerala: In a state where BJP didn’t win any lok sabha constituency since the 2009 Lok Sabha Election, the party was able to secure a single win in 2024 from the Thrissur Parliamentary constituency, where Suresh Gopi emerged as a winner, beating Sunil Kumar from CPI.
• Madhya Pradesh, NCT of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand: All seats were won by BJP.
• Independent Candidates won 7 seats (Punjab – 2, Maharashtra, J & K,DNHDD & Bihar had one independent winner each).
