The Income Tax Department is set to bring more financial information under the Annual Information Statement (AIS), strengthening the way taxpayer data is captured and cross-checked.

The expanded data may include:
• GST return information
• Foreign remittances & overseas investments
• Off-market stock transactions
• Relevant information from another taxpayer’s ITR
• Pending & completed tax proceedings

📌 What does this mean for taxpayers?
More data means stronger cross-checks and greater reporting accuracy. Information reported by one taxpayer may also be used to cross-check the income and transactions of another taxpayer.
