ence. MilitarytoCorporate-M2C (www.militarytocorp.com) is a leading, niche and first of its kind of a consulting firm in India that focuses purely on veteran hiring (officers, junior and non commissioned officers, other ranks from military and para-military forces) in India. We pride ourselves for being at the cross-section of a sophisticated technology platform that attracts best of the talent supply chain and industry aware consultants that interface with organizations ranging from Fortune500 to ambitious startups to help them in leading their veteran and diversity talent programs. Our Core Philosophy:

The central pillar of our philosophy lies in our belief of 'Doing Good'. 'Doing Good' refers to our continuous and relentless approach to help veterans from the military and para-military forces connect with corporates in getting fulfilling and enriching second career opportunities post retirement from active service. Our 'Doing Good' approach also means that corporates get the best of veteran talent pool, the talent that will add to the workforce diversity and bring in very distinct behavioral DNA along with decades of domain and functional experience.

'Doing Good' approach also manifests into giving our employees a reason to come to work every day by casting an unambiguous policy framework for their career progression and investment commitments into their overall career development. Our value systems and beliefs hinges around, what we call 3’I’:

Integrit: Integrity in everything we do, we look at the business decisions through the lenses of non-negotiable integrity. Intensit: We are passionate people, who love what they do, which brings the unmatched intensity to our work, to our lives and to the faith that our customers puts in us. Intention: We are the people who are on mission with right intent, we want everyone of us to carry intents that will impact our stakeholders positively

Behaviors that are important to us include:

Customer Advocacy: We put customers first and everything else comes after it, for us customer is pivot to what we do, and how we do it. Humility in Behavior and Aggressiveness in Performance: That sums it up, we are bunch of people who are fierce when solving customer challenges, and we love taking risks that are thought through. At the same time, we are humble, modest and direct when dealing with people. We don’t want to swap our values for aggressiveness in behavior and humility in performance. Happiness: What we do is bringing and should bring happiness to our customers, candidates and to all our employees. We love to have fun, exhibit boundless energy, and have happy faces around. We hate any dull moment.

"Veteran hiring isn't just a recruitment agenda, it's a values fit."

At our recent job fair, Rimple Khandka hosted a panel discussion on “Building a Veteran-Friendly Hiring Ecosystem” with Arshia Singh, Vice President – HR, Tata Consumer Products, our Platinum Sponsor for Hire India's Heroes.

Having grown up in an Armed Forces family, Arshia brought a unique perspective on the value veterans can bring to the corporate world.

Here are 3 things HR leaders and veterans should think about:

-Look beyond the job title. A veteran may not have FMCG or corporate experience, but they bring leadership, resilience, adaptability and the ability to deliver under pressure.

-Veterans are ready for today’s workplace. They work with technology, data, complex operations and fast-changing environments every day.

-Hiring is only the first step. The right buddy, mentor and team support can make a big difference in a veteran’s transition to corporate life.

And for veterans, Arshia had a simple message:
“Be confident about the values you bring in, and be curious about where it can take you next.”

Thank you, Arshia and TCPL, for supporting veteran inclusion and sharing such valuable insights with our veteran community!

I have never been inside a military gate,
so I am curious to see what's inside the military world.

That was the first sentence the CEO of a manufacturing company said to me during my discussion with him about the upcoming Leadership Exchange program in the military.

The military remains one of the most misunderstood institutions in the country. For safety and security reasons, entry into the military is highly restricted, and there are hardly any military-corporate integration programs that can create awareness.

To make things worse, Bollywood showcases Sunny Deol with a rocket launcher or Shah Rukh Khan with an automatic weapon, doing some superhero actions.

And that misunderstanding or lack of awareness is hurting soldiers when they leave the military & look for job opportunities in corporate.

During my workshops, I ask corporates what's the first thing that comes to their mind when they hear “military”.
I often hear: Security, Uniforms, Guns, Discipline, Border, etc.

But very few know that inside the military gate, there are Doctors, Engineers, Researchers, IT professionals, Cyber specialists, Project managers, Logistics experts, Data and intelligence professionals, Aerospace and technology specialists.

Today's warfare has moved. It's no longer linear at the borders. It's happening around us, on our TV screens, in the newspapers, in our mobile phones, in that WhatsApp forward.

The new asymmetric warfare is cyber warfare, Electronic warfare, Information warfare, Drone warfare, Space warfare, and psychological warfare, to name a few.

The battlefield today is as much about technology, information, intelligence, and decision-making as it is about weapons.

The best awareness we can create about the military is through an experiential military-corporate integration program.

And that's why we are opening the gates of the military for the first time in history for CXO-level leaders.

On 18 September, 75 C-suite leaders are stepping inside a military establishment in Bengaluru for the Leadership Exchange program organised by MilitaryToCorp Labs. The leaders will be immersed in the "Service before self" culture of the military, and see in real time how leadership and teams function in extreme environments.

Awareness creates understanding.
Understanding creates opportunity.
And opportunity is how we honour those who served.
Jai Hind!

Of all the traditions in the army, there is one that I am a big time fan of.
And it prevails in Navy and Airforce as much.

Just prior to my transition from military, I have had very serious argument with my senior. Like in most cases or arguments, it's two different viewpoints are there and decision needed to be taken. Both my senior and I were convinced we were right in our respective views and neither one willing to let go.

It went from disagreement to heated exchange faster than either of us wanted. In the heat of it, we may have crossed a line or two. Eventually, since someone has to call it, and he's senior, I let it go. Not because I agreed. Because the team needed to move to a decision.

But the beautiful part of military culture comes next.

That evening, I landed up, uninvited, at the same senior's house (mostly it's the junior landing at senior's place). We used to call it "Raid". Watching Safed Sagar web series recently, I got to know the Air Force guys call it "bouncing".

we spend time casually with each other, & spoke heart out over two drinks. No apologies etc. Just a conversation with the intent to better understand each other rather than reinforcing own point. Delicious food was ensured by senior's wife. I walked in with a handshake, a few hours of casual time and when I moved out, we hugged each other.

The next morning was like nothing happened. Same team. Same trust. None of us keeping score of who said what.

This wasn't new to me. In 25 years in uniform, this happened more times than I can count with seniors above me, with juniors below me.

Nobody wrote this rule down anywhere in military but it's followed commonly.

An organisation where nobody carries a grudge overnight has no politics. No groupism. No silent resentment quietly eating a team from the inside.

In the military, professional differences don't become personal grudges. That line doesn't move.
Most offices don't have a politics problem. They have a grudge problem. I feel it's the responsibility of the senior/leader to make sure there are no grudges or hatred.

At MilitaryToCorp Labs, we help companies create better teams and build great culture through battle tested military philosophies that have relevance for corporate.
