The Blue Bells International Concept Proposal.
Our second proposal for a school in the NCR.
Bringing in principals of Sustainability, Reuse, Bioclimatic Design.
The building was to use bricks salvaged from the dismantling of the older school building - both as symbolic and physical continuity of the spirit of vision that guides education at Delhi’s older and well known schools.
Aging buildings, larger numbers, better and new age teaching methodologies and above all safety and accessibility are issues educational spaces are constantly grappling with.
How do you address these while still creating spaces that are inspiring, wholesome and nurturing?
The design was bridge between the old and new, a double skin, bioclimatic facade to control heat gains, create softness and also create a green space.
The older buildings language of brick and arches informed the lower floors closer to the ground.
And an activated courtyard with auditorium and activity spaces became the centre of the proposal.
School environments are challenges and also learning opportunities at the same time.
We are sad this one will not see the light of day.
Maybe third time is the charm!
