India is entering a new era in critical infrastructure protection.

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ initiative to train private security personnel for port security, combined with the amended Arms Act provisions recognising legitimate occupational and professional requirements for arms licensing, represents a significant step towards a stronger and more resilient national security framework.

The next challenge is creating awareness, ensuring uniform implementation, and building a professionally trained, legally compliant armed private security workforce capable of supporting the protection of India’s critical assets.

I invite policymakers, industry leaders, security professionals and ex-servicemen to join this important national conversation.
