Setting a new standard for ethical manufacturing in Jordan. 🇯🇴

Transparency isn't just a buzzword; it’s our operating model. We are proud to highlight our collaboration with our Jordanian partners to implement a truly world-class workplace management system.

Our focus is on creating a non-toxic, inclusive atmosphere for our diverse team of Jordanian, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Indian, and Nepali workers. Key pillars of this initiative include:

âś… Fair Recruitment: Transparent hiring practices with zero discrimination and unethical money exchange.
âś… Responsive Grievance Systems: Ensuring workers have a safe, anonymous, and effective way to report concerns.
âś… Cross-Cultural Dialogue: Bridging backgrounds to build a unified, high-performing team.

When we prioritize the human element, the entire supply chain wins.

In Jordan’s apparel sector, thousands of expat workers from South Asia navigate immense challenges—toxic workplace; long hours, harsh supervision, cultural conflicts, and the constant strain of meeting brand expectations.

Our work at Paradigm Shift stands at this intersection of complexity and courage, where fostering rights and dignity is both urgent and delicate. Through our participatory due diligence training, we bring workers, management, and brands to the same table, creating space for dialogue, empathy, and shared accountability.

In an environment often shaped by pressure and silence, these conversations are not just training—they are transformation in motion.

Some weeks stay with you.

In Jordan, during a participatory training and assessment on grievance management and worker voice, it became clear that “toxic culture” is rarely about one bad supervisor—it is often woven through the everyday behaviours of middle management as well. Listening to workers and managers in the same room showed how unaddressed complaints, fear of speaking up, and pressure from the top slowly normalize disrespect and burnout. At Paradigm Shift, this is where the work begins.

🌊 Joining Hands for Justice in the Shrimp Supply Chain

Across India’s coastal belts — from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu — thousands of women and migrant workers keep the shrimp industry running.
They peel, clean, and pack the seafood that travels to dinner tables across the world.

Yet behind every exported shrimp lies an untold story —
⚠️ Long shifts in freezing rooms,
⚠️ Wages far below living standards,
⚠️ Women facing harassment and exclusion,
⚠️ Villages struggling with polluted water and lost farmlands.

To bring these hidden realities into the light,
the National Federation of Small Scale Fishworkers (NFF – NFSF), Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) India, and Paradigm Shift have joined hands.

Together, we are:
🔹 Documenting labour and environmental violations across shrimp-farming and processing hubs.
🔹 Giving workers, especially women and migrants, a voice through participatory research.
🔹 Engaging brands, European buyers, and regulators under the German Supply Chain Act (LkSG) to uphold accountability.
🔹 Advocating for dignified work, fair wages, and sustainable aquaculture.

This partnership is more than research — it’s a movement to humanise global seafood trade.
Because sustainability is not just about clean water and safe products —
it’s also about respect, fairness, and the right to work without fear.

🌍 Let’s make the invisible visible.

Paradigm Shift has proudly begun its journey in Jordan—a pivotal step in our ongoing commitment to uphold workers’ rights. We acknowledge the complex realities that workers face, navigating numerous hurdles from their home countries to destinations abroad. It is heartening to see that many aware and responsible factories and brands are now beginning to truly understand the pain, struggle, and sacrifices of these workers. Encouraged by this awareness, they are taking meaningful steps to support and improve conditions on the ground.

Together, we move forward with hope and determination to create lasting positive change.

At Paradigm Shift, our work in the natural stone mines of South India began with a promise: to bring visibility and dignity to those who too often remain unseen. Among the dust and stone, we met the unregistered contract workers—the invisible hands who shape the industry, yet are absent from any ledger and left on the fringes without social protections.

We witnessed their daily courage, enduring hardship while denied recognition, social security, and the simplest safeguards that every worker deserves. Their silence was a testament to their resilience in the face of persistent social and structural injustice.

With ARTE as our partner, we set forth to break this silence. Drawing on the strength of our social networks, tireless field visits, honest conversations with management, and inclusive stakeholder dialogues, we began a journey of change. It was not quick, and never easy—months of patient effort, trust-building, and unwavering advocacy followed.

Today, we are witnessing a transformation. Step by step, contractors are entering the fold of legality, achieving the status of Inter-State Migrant Worker (ISMW) license holders. One by one, the invisible are becoming visible.

Their recognition means more than a signature on paper. It is the first light of dignity, the opening of doors to social benefits, and a long overdue affirmation of their rightful place in the supply chain. Now, companies and communities alike can stand with these workers—ensuring that no one building the foundation of this industry is left in the shadows.

Together, we are reclaiming hope for those whose contributions are invaluable, and whose voices matter. The journey continues, but the invisible are invisible no more.

Theatre is more than art—it is dialogue in motion. In labour rights, where disputes often silence voices, theatre opens space for empathy.

Forum Theatre lets workers and managers step into each other’s shoes. It transforms conflict into conversation, and tension into shared solutions.

At Paradigm Shift, we use theatre to spark challenging discussions. We bring the most difficult labour rights issues onto the stage of participation. Here, every voice matters, and every story can be re-imagined.

When dialogue becomes performance, change begins to breathe.

Ensuring no worker remains invisible 👩🏾‍🚀

🌍 In South India’s natural stone mines, thousands of inter‑state migrant workers contribute silently to the industry’s growth, often employed through multiple contractors. Registering these contractors [ISMW] for managing inter-state migrants is not just a legal formality—it is a vital step towards ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, access to social security, and recognition of their human dignity.

Yet, obtaining the required licenses and registrations under India’s complex bureaucratic set‑up and government machinery remains a challenging process—often discouraging contractors and leaving workers invisible.

At Paradigm Shift, we believe navigating these hurdles is essential to bring every worker within the fold of legal protection, strengthen accountability in the mining sector, and uphold the dignity of those who power this industry.

During visits to Natural Stone quarries, we saw firsthand how lack of proper toilets impacts workers’ dignity and safety—especially with the threat of insect and snake bites.

Most overlook this issue as these quarries are there in the forest area; but listening to workers revealed its urgency.

Our team at Paradigm Shift took action, collaborating with contractors and brand partner [Arte keukenbladen - B Corp] to build toilets where they are most needed. We prioritized creative budgeting to make these solutions sustainable.

Consultants can preach compliance, but creating real change means working together and staying committed on the ground.

Inclusive action leads to lasting impact—one toilet at a time.

💔 Six Lives Lost in Seconds – A Wake-Up Call for the Natural Stone Sector!

On 3rd August, a tragic quarry accident claimed the lives of 6 migrant workers and left several others injured.

Our Paradigm Shift team immediately reached the site, met the injured workers in the hospital, and spoke with authorities. We learned that only two families have received compensation of INR 1.4 millions so far; the rest await support due to procedural delays.

In total, 14 workers were affected, with 8 sustaining severe injuries — lives and livelihoods disrupted in seconds.

This tragedy is a stark reminder that worker safety in the Natural Stone sector cannot be an afterthought. We believe sustainable industry growth is only possible when worker well-being is at the core.

We call on quarry owners, importing brands, industry leaders, government bodies, and exporters to strengthen safety protocols and emergency support systems.

Paradigm Shift is committed to fostering multi-stakeholder cooperation and dialogue to prevent such incidents.

Let us act now — because no stone should cost a life.

In the Natural Stone sector—where a safety-first mindset was once uncommon—building a true culture of health and safety is transformative. Personal protective equipment and robust safety practices are not just compliance steps, but vital safeguards for every worker. When safety becomes a core value, it protects lives, strengthens teams, and paves the way for a more sustainable, resilient industry.
