Import of services

If your NGO is registered under section 12AA of income tax act and is receiving any services from abroad i.e non taxable territory for charitable purposes, then your NGO need not pay IGST under reverse charge mechanism
normally for any registered player receiving any services from non taxable territory shall have to pay GST on reverse charge mechanism, while NGO registered under section 12AA of the income tax and receiving such services for charitable purposes are exempt from paying GST on such services under reverse charge mechanism.

Thus when you are borrowing any books or reading materials from the library, you will not be charged GST on such borrowing,

Donation in charitable or religious trust.

The donation is received with specified instruction or mutual understanding between the donor and receiver that religious place will host
an advertisement,
promoting business of the donor,
such donation will be subject to GST. But if donation is received without such instructions or without a quid or pro quo in the form of supply of any goods or services by the trust to the donor, it shall not be subject to GST

Only such services of religious pilgrimage as are provided by
Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam ltd.or
Haj Committee of India or
A state Haj committee constituted under the Haj committee Act, 2002
in respect of a religious pilgrimage facilitated by govt. of India, under bilateral arrangement, are exempt from GST (entry no 60 of notifications no. 12/2017- central tax on 28th June 2017) .
Religious yatras or pilgrimage organized by any charitable or religious trust are not exempt.

Conduct of any religious ceremony

If any religious trust conduct any religious ceremony like Navratri pooja or other religious functions whatever amount charged by them will be exempted from the, but if they collect charges for parking or for advertisements hoardings at a religious place or other such charges it will not be exempted from GST.
It means nature of income is an essential factor for ascertaining whether it will be taxable or exempt. If income loses its religious nature, it is definitely chargeable to GST

GST on hospital managed by charitable trusts

If you are running any clinic, dispensary or hospital in the form of charitable trust and providing any medical treatment in any form except hair transplant or plastic surgery for beautification then such treatment shall be exempted from GST.
Treatment can be given by an authorized medical professional or paramedics in either case GST is exempted provided such services are being offered by charitable trust.
Even transportation of patients is exempted from GST
GST will not be exempt if the trust hires any specialist doctors on consultation and deduct some money from consultation fee payable to doctors.
