📢 Important Update on SVB & Provisional Assessments

CBIC has notified the Customs (Finalisation of Provisional Assessments) Regulations, 2025 with effect from 12 September 2025.

👉 What this means for importers dealing with SVB (Special Valuation Branch):

No more endless waiting – provisional assessments must now be finalised within 2 years.

Fixed steps & deadlines – documents, enquiry, and final orders now have clear timelines.

Certainty for businesses – refunds or duty demands won’t remain stuck indefinitely.

⚖️ Earlier, SVB cases could remain provisional for years. Now, the law forces Customs to close the case within 2 years, even if valuation enquiries are complex.

✅ Takeaway for importers: Faster closure brings relief, but also means you must stay proactive in providing documents and responses on time.

📢 Important Compliance Update for PIBOs & PWPs

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has extended the deadline for filing Annual Returns under Plastic EPR for the year 2024–25.

✅ New Due Date: 30th November 2025
✅ Applicable to: All registered Producers, Importers, Brand Owners (PIBOs) and Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs)
✅ Purpose: To ease compliance difficulties and ensure proper reporting under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2023.

🔹 PIBOs and PWPs must use this extended timeline to complete filings and stay compliant with EPR guidelines.
