This Chinese company is aiming for the third spot in India's e-commerce market after Amazon and Flipkart

Chinese e-tailer Club Factory on Tuesday said it is aiming to be among the top three e-commerce players in India as it looks to attract sellers with "zero per cent commission" strategy.

Also, the company is ramping up investments to meet higher consumer demands.

Last month, the company announced its new scale-up strategy with plans to on-board over 10,000 sellers this year. It claims to have on-boarded over 5,000 sellers since the announcement.

"After witnessing a rapid growth and success in India, we are now looking forward to an era of FAC (Flipkart, Amazon, Club Factory) to be the future of India e-commerce market. We are further empowering local SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in India with our zero per cent commission strategy and also making significant investment in the ecosystem to meet higher consumer demands," Club Factory founder and CEO Vincent Lou told .

The company opened its sellers recruitment programme in India offering products in the lifestyle, fashion, accessories, gadgets and electronics and home categories.

The programme is helping sellers avail marketing fee waiver and zero commission to achieve 20-30 per cent cost saving as compared to selling on other platforms, the benefits of which are passed on to the consumer, he said.

Club Factory is also conducting training and offering support for sellers on the platform.
"Currently, 70 per cent of the orders are executed from India SMEs with a strong focus on products locally made in India. Also, after adopting the local marketplace strategy, the total order volume has significantly increased by over 100 per cent since beginning of this year," Lou said.

The company has three warehouses in India and is planning to set up more to expedite delivery of products in the country.

Banks suggest 6-12 hours limit between two ATM transactions per user to prevent fraud

A suggestion is being made that withdrawals from ATMs may be staggered to help prevent frauds using cloned credit or debit cards. The suggestion has come from a group of banks, the Delhi State-Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC). The time lag can be anywhere between six to twelve hours, reports a report.

Delhi NCR has been facing a large number of such ATM frauds. The bankers claim they find the maximum number of such fraudulent withdrawal occur in the wee hours of the morning. If some curbs can be introduced with a few hours between two back to back withdrawals, the scope of frauds can be limited, members of the SLBC feel.

This is just a suggestion and may have to be discussed at the level of individual banks and then the RBI. Representatives of 18 banks were present at this meeting of the Delhi SLBC. It is said the exercise was at the initiative of the Department of Financial Services, in the Ministry of Finance.

Some of the other suggestions to be discussed at the meeting included adding the one-time-password verification for ATM withdrawals too like it is done for online transactions. There’s even a suggestion to make the ATM interactive. An example cited was if someone were to enter an ATM with his or her helmet on, the ATM could give out a voice command to remove the helmet before attempting to withdraw cash. This will ensure the person’s face is captured by the CCTV camera.

Oriental Bank of Commerce claims it is already implementing some of these and claims 300 out of its 2600 ATMs across the country have been provided with these facilities described above. They have also established a central control centre for ATMs which can slowly remove the need for a security guard. The security guard arrangement has not been quite effective based on reports.

Hero Dash electric scooter launched in India, price starts at Rs 62,000

Hero Electric today launched Dash electric scooter for an introductory price of Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom, India). The company showcased the extended range (ER) variants Optima and Nyx as well. While Hero Optima ER is priced at Rs 68,721 (ex-showroom, India), Hero Nyx ER is available for Rs 69,754 (ex-showroom, India).

The new Hero Dash comes with a 48V 28 Ah Li-Ion battery. With the fast-charging technology, the electric scooter can be juiced up in four hours and has a range of 60 km per charge. It has a ground clearance of 145 mm.

Hero Dash gets features like LED headlights and DRLs, digital instrument cluster, USB mobile charging port, tubeless tyres, dual-tone body colour and graphics and remote boot opening.

Both Hero Optima ER and Hero Nyx ER are equipped with dual Li-Ion battery, with the former having a range of 110 km per charge and latter 100 km per charge.

Hero Electric claims that daily commuters using bikes and scooters with internal combustion engines can save more than Rs 1 lakh in two years by switching to any of its ER e-scooters. The company plans to have 1,000 touchpoints by the end of 2020. Currently, it has 615.
