Income Tax and GST rules are becoming stricter — are you prepared?

With smarter systems, auto-matched returns, digital invoice tracking, and stronger Income Tax monitoring, compliance is no longer optional. Even small mistakes can now lead to notices, penalties, or audits.

Whether you are a salaried professional, business owner, or freelancer, these changes directly affect you:
✔️ ITC now depends on your supplier’s compliance
✔️ Income Tax data is cross-checked across multiple sources
✔️ Past records are easier for authorities to trace
✔️ GST audits are increasing

A single mismatch can impact your entire return. Staying proactive is the smartest way to stay safe.

Missed the ITR deadline for AY 2025–26? Don’t worry—there’s still one last chance.

You can file your Belated ITR up to 31 December 2025. After this date, the option to file a belated or revised return for this year will be permanently closed.

If you file your Belated ITR on time, you can still:

Claim eligible refunds

Correct mistakes in your return

Carry forward certain losses (where allowed)

But if you miss 31 December 2025, your only option will be an Updated Return (ITR-U), which can be filed later—but with important limitations:

No refund claims allowed

No carry-forward of losses

Additional tax and penalties, depending on how late you file.

Big news for small companies!

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has updated the definition of a Small Company, making compliance simpler and more affordable for many businesses.

What has changed?
As per the Companies (Specification of Definition Details) Amendment Rules, 2025, the limits under Section 2(85) of the Companies Act, 2013 have been increased:

Paid-up Share Capital: ₹4 crore → ₹10 crore

Annual Turnover: ₹40 crore → ₹100 crore

Effective from: 1st December 2025

This means more companies will now qualify as small companies and enjoy lower compliance requirements and reduced costs.
