Research says a breakup doesn’t just make you lose a person.
Sometimes, you lose a part of your identity too.
A Northwestern University study by psychologists Erica Slotter, Wendi Gardner & Eli Finkel found that after a breakup, people can experience something called reduced self-concept clarity —
“Who am I without this person?”
Because somewhere along the way,
“I” became “we.”
So maybe the next stage of letting go isn’t about forgetting them.
It’s about reclaiming YOU.
