Three different numbers, one pallet - and specifications usually quote only the first.

Static load is what the pallet carries sitting on the floor. Dynamic load is what it carries while it is being moved, when the forks are under it and the load is shifting. Racking load is the hardest of the three: the pallet is supported only at its ends, the centre is unsupported, and deflection over time becomes the failure mode rather than a single dramatic break.

A pallet can be entirely adequate on the floor, acceptable on a forklift, and unsuitable in a racking system - with no visible difference between the three.

This is why deck board thickness, board spacing, stringer or block configuration and entry type are engineering decisions rather than catalogue options. They follow from which of the three conditions the pallet actually has to survive.

If your pallets are going into racking and the specification does not say so, that is worth correcting before the next order.

Since 12 August, there's a new EU rule sitting over every shipment that lands in Europe. It's called PPWR, and most Indian exporters still haven't heard of it.

It doesn't care where your factory is. It cares where your goods arrive. If your container reaches an EU port, your packaging is now part of European law. Pallets, crates, boxes, all of it.

And no, it isn't ISPM-15. The heat-treatment stamp you already do stays exactly as it is. PPWR sits on top of it: can the packaging be recycled, is it over-built, can you document it, and who pays to deal with it once it becomes waste in Europe.

The good news, if you ship on wood: you're ahead. Wood is renewable, recyclable, and clean on the chemicals the regulation is chasing. The EU has even confirmed that pallets in active import and export use are exempt from the new reuse rules. Most of the panic online was written for plastic, not for wooden packaging.

The catch is quieter. For most B2B shipments the legal "producer" is your EU importer, not you. But your buyer will push the cost and the paperwork back up the chain to whichever supplier makes it easiest. The exporter who shows up with right-sized packaging and documents ready to hand over becomes the supplier who doesn't create work. That's the one who keeps the order.

We've built a 7-point PPWR readiness checklist you can run before your next European shipment.

Want it? Comment "checklist" below and we'll send it straight to you.

A lot of exporters find out what ISPM-15 actually requires only after a shipment gets flagged at the destination port. By then, it’s an expensive way to learn.

This is what the process looks like on our floor — raw pine, in-house milling, heat treatment to core-temperature standard, quality checks at every stage, and the stamp that tells customs officials the wood has actually been treated, not just labeled.

That’s also why our team doesn’t stop at the factory gate. We stay through loading and dispatch, because a well-engineered crate can still fail if it’s loaded wrong — and that’s not a risk we hand off to someone else.

Compliance isn’t a document attached at the end. It’s a manufacturing decision made board by board, days before the shipment ever reaches a port.

If your current supplier can’t show you this part of the process, that’s worth asking about before your next export shipment.

Wishing everyone a very happy Independence Day.

Seventy-nine years ago, India secured the freedom to build on its own terms. The scale of what followed is visible today in every port and inland container depot in the country — capital equipment, pharmaceutical consignments, automotive assemblies and electrical systems moving from Indian factories to markets that once supplied us.

That progress rests on a discipline we rarely discuss publicly: ex*****on. Meeting the specification. Meeting the date. Meeting the compliance requirement at the other end.

At Greenstrand, our contribution to that is deliberately narrow. We manufacture export packaging in-house at our Gurugram facility — ISPM-15 certified heat treatment, ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, complete control from design to dispatch — so that Indian goods arrive in the condition they left in.

To every manufacturer, exporter and operations team advancing this story: thank you, and congratulations on how far it has come.

Happy Independence Day.

Most export damage doesn't happen on the forklift. It happens on day 34, somewhere in the middle of the ocean.

A 60-day sea voyage subjects your cargo to relentless humidity cycles, condensation, and salt-laden air — conditions that quietly corrode metal, warp components, and turn a clean shipment into a rejected one before it ever reaches port.

At Greenstrand, we engineer seaworthy packaging for exactly this. Heat-treated, ISPM-15 compliant pine construction with moisture control and corrosion-resistant design, built in-house to German engineering standards. No outsourcing, no compliance gaps.

Your product only has to survive the destination. The packaging has to survive the entire journey.

Solid pine, OSB or plywood—which material is right for your cargo?

It depends on what you are packing and where it is going.

🪵 Solid pine is commonly used for heavy cargo and repeated handling.
📦 OSB can be suitable for lighter, single-use shipments in dry conditions.
🔩 Plywood offers a smooth finish and good stability for precision products and export crates.

Before choosing, consider the cargo weight, handling method, storage conditions, moisture exposure and complete transportation route.

India’s export ambitions are growing. But is packaging discipline keeping pace?

For industrial manufacturers, packaging is not simply the final step before dispatch. It directly influences how safely machinery, auto components, electrical equipment and other high-value cargo move through handling, storage and long-distance transportation.

An unsuitable pallet, crate or wooden box can increase the risk of movement, moisture exposure, handling difficulties, repacking and shipment delays.

That is why industrial packaging decisions should begin with the cargo—not with a standard box size.

The right packaging solution must consider:

• Cargo dimensions and weight
• Load distribution and handling method
• Domestic or export movement
• Destination and transit conditions
• Storage requirements
• Applicable export packaging requirements

At Greenstrand Packaging Solutions, we develop application-specific wooden packaging solutions for industrial manufacturers and exporters. From machinery packaging and wooden crates to pallets and export-ready packaging, every requirement is evaluated around the cargo and its journey.

How much could one failed pallet really cost your business?

Potentially much more than its purchase price.

A weak or unsuitable pallet can lead to:

❌ Product damage
❌ Shipment delays
❌ Rejected consignments
❌ Replacement and handling costs
❌ Warehouse disruption
❌ Loss of customer confidence

The right wooden pallet supports cargo protection, safer handling and smoother movement throughout the supply chain.

GreenStrand Packaging Solutions helps manufacturers, exporters and industrial businesses identify dependable, project-specific wooden packaging solutions for their shipment requirements.

Before your next shipment moves, make sure its foundation is ready.

Most packaging suppliers start the conversation with a price list. We start with a question: what exactly are you shipping, and how?

A local supplier will quote you a pallet size from a catalog. We ask about your product's weight, fragility, transit route, and compliance needs first—then engineer the solution around it. That's the difference between ordering packaging and ordering the wrong packaging twice.

Every recommendation we make—pallet, box, crate, seaworthy, or airworthy—comes after we understand your requirement, not before. Fewer mismatched orders, fewer damage claims, lower total cost across your shipment cycle. It's usually why procurement teams call us after a wrong-fit order from someone else, not before.

Send us your shipment spec. We'll tell you what you actually need — not what's easiest to sell.

Before your shipment moves, check your packaging first.

Export packaging is not only about packing the product.
It is about compliance, safety, load strength, moisture protection, and destination-country requirements.

Take the 60-second compliance check:

✅ ISPM-15 heat-treated & stamped
✅ Certified load rating
✅ Destination regulation compliant
✅ Moisture-resistant seaworthy packaging
✅ IATA-compliant airworthy packaging
✅ ISO 9001:2015 certified supplier

Score 6/6? You’re export-ready.
Score 4–5/6? Risk gaps may exist.
Score below 4? Your shipment may be at risk.
