On 13th June, 2025 an Assam State Level CSO Convening was hosted by IDEA NE  in Guwahati. Representatives of 35 Civil Society Organisations from across Assam participated in this convening that aimed at strengthening collaborative efforts to address issues of development and protection of children in Assam. The meeting raised a platform for CSOs to share their expertise, resources and ideas.

A colourful and illustrated calendar for every home with a child. 👧🏻👦🏻

Printed in both Assamese and English, the calendar aims to create awareness on the issues of children amongst the parents and community. Designed and illustrated by artist Monikundal Borah, Cover Page by Amalendu Kaushik. The calendar is a product of IDEA NE, created under Project ENRICH and supported by Childaid Network Germany

Imagination, creativity, and learning will always be there to shape us🪴

📌With this in core we recently concluded a three-day refresher workshop on Children's Library at Shillong from 25th to 27th March, 2025.

Designed for the Education Facilitators of Bosco Integrated Development Society, working in 48 Government and Government-Aided LP schools across the Eastern West Khasi Hills and East Jaintia Hills districts the participants were actively engaged throughout the process.
The workshop focused on enhancing creative and joyful engagement with children in library settings in schools. Activities such as book read-alouds, participatory storytelling, and various library games, aimed at enriching the learning experience in library spaces📚

Through these workshops we aim to ensure young minds are nurtured in fun and lively ways.

Celebrating International Women's Day 2025!

Diyas, symbols of light and hope, are lit on many occasions. This Women's Day, they shine even brighter in the lives of women from Dirok and Diriyal Tea Gardens who have been part of the Gender and Leadership program.

They are lighting Diyas of strength and resilience for women to start recognising and questioning long-standing gender inequalities within homes and societies. Despite working regularly, many lack education, skills, land, or savings-making financial independence a constant struggle.

We celebrate these courageous women who are questioning norms, raising their voices, and striving for a brighter, more equal tomorrow.

| We recently had the opportunity to visit our partner UFSNE (Ursuline Franciscan Society of Northeast), where we had the privilege of practicing the Participatory Learning Action (PLA) tools and engaging extensively with the community. The visit provided a unique opportunity to work alongside the UFSNE team and utilise these tools to gain deeper insights into the community's concerns, particularly those related to children’s issues.

The main highlight of the visit was our session with the children, where we implemented our child-participatory PLA tools. This allowed us to explore the children's perspectives on what they view as essential for their community. It was truly inspiring to witness the children take the lead throughout the PLA process, enthusiastically discussing their aspirations and collaboratively creating their vision of an ideal village.

Additionally, we hosted an interactive session with the children, incorporating engaging library games that further sparked their interest in learning, particularly their alphabet. The collaboration and support from the incredible UFSNE team were invaluable, and we extend our sincere gratitude for their efforts.

We look forward to our next visit and to continuing this meaningful journey together.

IDEA NE recently facilitated the first phase of a training program on “Conscious Citizenry” for the partner organisations of Terre des hommes (TDH, Germany-India Programs). The training was organised by SATRA -one of the partner organisations of TDH in Assam on the project “Strengthening children's and women's rights through peaceful conflict resolution in Assam and Manipur.” The training was attended by 24 project staff working with children and youths from Assam, Manipur, Bihar and Jharkhand.
We have been the technical partner of THD for the project earlier, where we developed the training module on ‘Conscious Citizenry’ in collaboration with Kshetra Foundation for Dialogue.
The training aimed at equipping the participants to deliver the sessions with children of 6 to 14 years on the topics of understanding self and others, awareness of emotions and to management, communication skills to foster healthy relationships and social responsibility, while also enhancing the skills and knowledge of facilitating sessions effectively with children.
