After an unforgiving summer, monsoon brings us and ๐ŸŒฟ

We are getting enough to make a meal of them every week. Growing your own food is growing your own medicine. It's humbling and empowering. It's intense and magical. It's what makes you whole, again.

Merry Christmas - From Rudolph ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…

This year I got a chance to visit a special place on Earth - Mongolia. This faraway land is home to some of the rarest creatures on Earth. I was extremely lucky to have seen most of them, including reindeer. Infact petting this reindeer was one of the most surreal experiences. Their fur is thick and spongy, almost as if a dog's, which felt quite incredible and surprising to me. Extremely patient and quiet, quite like the Indian cows they were chewing on their cud.

The reindeer herders are a nomadic tribe that rears these animals in the northern most part of Mongolia. The animals are herded from one location to another throughout the entire year depending on food availability. The herders live in conical huts made of animal hide and forest tree trunks that are easy to install and dismantle. Children are fed meat, milk and bread mostly. Reindeers are treated like family members and never slaughtered unless dire need arises. In winter the families move closer to Lake which is where we found them.

Every year the reindeers shed their antlers. The herders carves out beautiful art on these antlers and sell these as souvenirs.

Make way for the giants ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ
Twice a year I get harvested goodies from our village in Most of them defy the size parameters as well as taste. The most delicious, organic food fit for the kings! The is exceptionally sweet and I have received some seeds too to sow! is earthy and filling, alas it doesn't grow in Gurgaon weather. will be made into pickles and no this variety of lemon also doesn't grow in weather conditions. But I am lucky to receive them every year. The joy of good food ๐Ÿ’•

Farm grown sunchokes for dinner ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐ŸŒฑSunchokes are tubers (swollen roots) of a sunflower variety! They look like colocasia but taste a bit like sweet potatoes. Delicious mild sweet taste when roasted, they taste heavenly when you sprinkle some lemon juice and coriander sprigs. This beautiful vegetable was gifted to me by and I have shown some in my garden too! What a wonderful introduction to a new variety. โค๏ธ
