► Narrated: Anas bin Malik
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) visited a man who was so emaciated that he had become like a baby bird. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said to him: “And did you not used to supplicate? Did you not used to ask Your Lord for sound health?” He said: “I used to say: “O Allah, whatever You are going to punish me with in the Hereafter, then hasten it for me in this world.” So the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Glory is to Allah, you are not capable of that” – or – “you are not able to stand that. Would you not say:

اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

O Allah, give us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and spare us the punishment of the Fire

انس رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک صحابی کی جو بیماری سے سخت لاغر اور سوکھ کر چڑیا کے بچے کی طرح ہو گئے تھے عیادت کی، آپ نے ان سے فرمایا: ”کیا تم اپنے رب سے اپنی صحت و عافیت کی دعا نہیں کرتے تھے؟“ انہوں نے کہا: میں دعا کرتا تھا کہ اے اللہ! جو سزا تو مجھے آخرت میں دینے والا تھا وہ سزا مجھے تو دنیا ہی میں پہلے ہی دیدے، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”سبحان اللہ! پاک ہے اللہ کی ذات، تو اس سزا کو کاٹنے اور جھیلنے کی طاقت و استطاعت نہیں رکھتا، تم یہ کیوں نہیں کہا کرتے تھے: «اللهم آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار» ”اے اللہ! تو ہمیں دنیا میں بھی نیکی، اچھائی و بھلائی دے اور آخرت میں بھی حسنہ، نیکی بھلائی و اچھائی دے، اور بچا لے تو ہمیں جہنم کے عذاب سے“ (البقرہ: ۲۰۱)۔

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَادَ رَجُلاً قَدْ جُهِدَ حَتَّى صَارَ مِثْلَ الْفَرْخِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ‏"‏ أَمَا كُنْتَ تَدْعُو أَمَا كُنْتَ تَسْأَلُ رَبَّكَ الْعَافِيَةَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ كُنْتُ أَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ مَا كُنْتَ مُعَاقِبِي بِهِ فِي الآخِرَةِ فَعَجِّلْهُ لِي فِي الدُّنْيَا ‏.‏ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لاَ تُطِيقُهُ - أَوْ لاَ تَسْتَطِيعُهُ أَفَلاَ كُنْتَ تَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ‏"‏

The best of supplication is the supplication of the Day of `Arafaah.
And the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is:

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone, without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him belongs the Praise, and He is powerful over all things.

(SUNAN TIRMIDHI Hadith #3585)

► PROPHET MUHAMMAD (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
1) Al-Yawmul-Maw'üd (the Promised Day) is the Day of Resurrection,
2) And Al-Yawmul-Mashhüd (the Attended Day) is the Day of 'Arafah,
3) And Ash-Shãhid (the witness) is Friday.

(SUNAN TIRMIDHI Hadith #3339.1)
(SAHIH AL JAAMI Hadith #8201)

► PROPHET MUHAMMAD (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
Allah took the covenant from the loins of Adam in Na’maan, i.e., ‘Arafaah. He (Allah) brought forth from his loins all his offspring and spread them before Him (Allah), then He (Allah) addressed them, and said: (QURAN 7:172-173)

And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware."
➨ QURAN 7:173
Or [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with Allah before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?"

There is no day when ALLAH sets free more slaves from the Fire than the day of Arafaat. He draws near, then He boasts about them before the Angels and says: What do these people want?

Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) perfected Islam during the life time of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
NOTHING MORE CAN BE ADDED OR SUBSTRACTED

► Narrated: 'Umar bin Al-Khattab
Once a Jew said to me, "O the chief of believers! There is a verse in your Holy Book Which is read by all of you (Muslims), and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken that day (on which it was revealed as a day of celebration." 'Umar bin Al-Khattab asked, "Which is that verse?" The Jew replied,
(QURAN 5:3)
"This day I have perfected your religion For you, completed My favor upon you, And have chosen for you Islam as your religion."
'Umar replied,"No doubt, we know when and where this verse was revealed to the Prophet. It was Friday and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was standing at 'Arafat"

No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (First ten days of Zul Hijjah).

(SAHIH BUKHARI Hadith #969)

► PROPHET MUHAMMAD (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
There are no days that are greater before Allaah or in which good deeds are more beloved to Him, than these ten days (of Zul Hijjah), so recite a great deal of
1) Tahleel (Laa ILaaha IL LaL Laah),
2) Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) and
3) Tahmeed (AL Hamdu LiLLah)
during them.

When the first ten days (of Zul Hijjah) begin, if he has a sacrificial animal that he wants to offer as a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his hair or trim his nails.

EVERY ONE CAN PARTICIPATE IN SACRIFICE

One sacrifice can be sufficient on behalf of all the members of a family (dining from one same kitchen).

► Narrated: 'Ata bin Yasar
"I asked Abu Abyub [Al-Ansari] how the slaughtering was done during the time of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم).
He said:
'A man would sacrifice a sheep for himself and the people in his household. They would eat from it and feed others, until the people (later) would boast about it and it became as you see now."

(SUNAN TIRMIDHI Hadith #1505)
