Malabar
Neem is a economically viable tree with uses in Plywood & Paper industry apart from its numerous uses in cottage industries. This wild tree yields Lacs of rupees and needs little management for its growth. India has been a huge importer of these trees from South-Asian countries; however the imports are going to be a huge concern as the countries exporting these wood trees are mulling laws to ban the export. That means rise in demand for locally grown wood as India already has laws in place regarding deforestation and ban of tree felling in forests. Malabar Neem tree farming is no complex activity however there are 15 species of this tree and one needs to know which one has to be selected for cultivation in a given type of soil and climatic conditions. If tests and selections are not done carefully the results can be economically destroying as the trees would still grow however would not yield the desired results. These trees when farmed with drip irrigation and organic fertilizing fetch maximum results.
