What is Reinforcement & Why is it so Important to have Reinforcement in Profiles??

On the First place i would like to inform you that we i.e; UPVC are located in , . We use high quality Reinforcement and we concentrate more on the Welded Strength of our UPVC Windows & Doors. So here lets learn what Reinforcement is all about and why is it so important to have good quality of Reinforcement in our & Profiles.

WHAT IS REINFORCEMENT?

• The function of the reinforcement is to give the product the necessary strength in case of wind load (static), to fix the fittings and being prepared for all mechanical and environmental stress.
• All reinforcements for used in MAK UPVC profiles shall be either MS sheet hot dip zinc coated in compliance with BS 2989 or extruded aluminium alloy Grade 6063 or 6082 in compliance with BS 1474.
• All Frame sections of VEKA uPVC profiles will have rectangle/ Square shaped Reinforcements.
• Main profiles will have reinforcements of min. 1.5mm Thickness.
• Special profiles such as Cover profiles, Couplings have a reinforcement of 2 to 10mm to achieve higher Inertia values as desired.

Why is it so important to have reinforcement in a uPVC profiles?

• To prevent excessive deflection due to wind load & glass weight
• Resist human impact (accidental loads)
• To maintain straightness of frame during fabrication, handling & installation
• Provide support for fasteners, hardware fixing & for mechanical joints of members such as mullions
• Enhance frame security
• Minimise the deformation of uPVC profiles due to temperature changes/differentials

What is UPVC and how is it useful?

UPVC stands for unplasticised polyvinyl chloride or Rigid PVC. VEKA - profiles are made of high impact hard unplasticised PVC. They are manufactured through the extrusion of a mixture whose main component is the thermoplastic polymer, polyvinyl chloride (PVC). U stands for Unplasticised which means that the material has not be softened by addition of Plasticizers. uPVC has become extremely popular choice for the doors and window frames because it is extremely durable & long lasting. In addition to doors and windows, uPVC is also used to manufacture fascias, siding and weatherboarding. The material comes in a range of colors and finishes. Because of its varied applications it is rapidly gaining popularity.
uPVC is used as a replacement for wood in construction, such as in double glazed window frames and window sills. It is a versatile material that can be manufactured in many colors or made to look like other materials (e.g., wood). uPVC is also used instead of cast iron for certain types of heavy-duty plumbing and draining. It is incredibly resistant to sunlight, exhaust fumes, Aging resistant, unaffected by temperatures, Corrosion resistant, low in flammability.
It is incredibly strong, stiff and cost-effective. Due to its strength and stiffness uPVC will remain in its original shape under normal weather conditions. However, at very high temperatures it can be reshaped into new products or pipes which make it recyclable. uPVC windows are more energy-efficient than those with wooden or metal frames.
