Abiding and cherished memories from childhood of Sankranthi festival were the holidays leading up to it and the flying of colourful kites. The day would begin and end with kite flying. All chores and routines would be quickly completed, as and when, so that the primary activity of getting to feel the đŸȘ kite soaring in the blue sky while the sun ascended and the itinerant breezes caressed us and lifted our kites higher, remains a fond memory to this day....

When we look into the fire we see it’s dynamic, delighted dance. When we stare into it, we are blinded by its brilliance and all else around, becomes dark. The truth is we choose what we wish to see and are in turn influenced in what we do. All around there is decay, degeneration, destruction that is symbolised by the fire consuming its fuel and breaking it up into its constituent elements and if we choose we are also witness to renewal, regeneration and rebirth....

Yesterday, I happened to be at the awards function of the Hyderabad Management Association (HMA). Quite an affair, where the award carries the inscription “Yoga karmesu kaushalam”. Translated into English it reads ‘Yoga is skill in action’. I have had the opportunity to dwell on this quote from the Bhagvad Gita for over 20 years now, since my formal relationship as a member , began with HMA....

A prescient comment that I came across, while watching this serial, in the penultimate episode. As I gaze into the distance, my eyes relax, my mind defocuses and my thoughts slow down. Emotions that hitherto clamoured for attention are given an audience and melt away, leaving a sense of calm and serenity for the moment. As long as nothing urgent demands my attention, this state of limbo flows till I am drawn back to become aware of my surroundings, by my physical needs or someone’s call....
