Introduction
Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) was conceptualized 56 years ago, in the year 1964, by a dozen dedicated
young managers of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, who felt the need for developing managerial skills
among young executives and spreading the message of professionalism among the practicing managers with the
involvement of academia & industry. Activities of HMA
HMA provides a platform for professionals, academia &management students to stay abreast of contemporary management
practices and events shaping the profession and its emerging challenges. Evening Lecture Meetings, Training Programs, Panel Discussions, Seminars, Conventions, Quiz Programs,
Management /Faculty & Student Development Programs etcand this year we will be adding certificate programs in
partnership with Business Schools. All India Management Association
The Hyderabad Management Association is affiliated to the All India Management Association (AIMA) New Delhi. AIMA
associates with HMA for conduct of regular Joint Programs at Hyderabad. Managing Committee
HMA is managed by a Managing Committee consisting of 10 elected representatives of its members, 6 Co-opted members
from Industry, Academia & Society, Advisors from Government, Defence, Industry & Corporates. Outstanding Achievements

„India My Dream – Interactive Lectures Series’: HMA conducted this special series in 2002-03 wherein 10 renowned
speakers from across the country addressed the theme. The grand finale was addressed by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, His
Excellency, President of India, where he articulated his vision 2020 for India. AIMA - HMA 32nd National Management Convention: The 32nd NMC on the theme „Best of the Best-Spirit of the
Challenger‟, which was successfully conducted on 23rd & 24th September 2005 at Hyderabad, had many firsts to its credit. It was the first NMC wherein the State Government was a partner, the event was attended by more than 1000 participants
and for the first time in NMC history the sponsorship crossed the Rs 1 Crore mark.
‘Shaping Young Minds’: HMA conducted the AIMA Shaping Young Minds program in 2004 and again in 2010, which was
attended by a large number of Management Students, Faculty and Young Managers. The program was a grand success. National icons from Industry, Government, NGOs, Cine World and Sports addressed the future Managers of the Country,
which left a deep impact on the Young Minds. This program is now again planned in 2020
Regional Conclave: In December 2010 & in March 2011, HMA in collaboration with the Madras Management Association
and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Germany conducted the 99h & 12th Southern Regional Conclaves, which were a
runaway success. This Conclave was addressed by distinguished speakers including 2 Members of Parliament from
Germany. This Conclave is now again planned in Feb/March 2021
IMPACT 2012: HMA‟s Soft Skills Training Program for Students& Unemployed Educated Youth. IMPACT is successful and
has gained popularityoverthe last 5 years. This is in association with JC International and Vasavi Club ofGreater Hyderabad. The attendance is overwhelming with more than 1000 participants at each session. Top notch Trainers, Experts and
celebrated Speakers address the students and share their personal experiences which highly motivates and encourages the
students.The iconic speakers are a role model for the Generation Y.
‘Mana Hyderabad – We the Stakeholders‟ series in which 6 Panel Discussions sponsored by M/s Pennar Industries Ltd
were conducted during the year 2011-12. Current and burning topics involving the Stakeholders i.e. the general public were
touched upon in this series, which proved to be highly successful and useful to the society. The series was inaugurated by
His Excellency Sri E S L Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh on 6th April 2011 and addressed by luminaries like Sri M
Shashidhar Reddy, MLA & Vice Chairman, National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi and other prominent
speakers. HMA Annual Awards
HMA was the first professional organization in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, to institute an annual award – “Manager of
the Year” in 1973 to recognize a manager for his outstanding achievements as well as his contributions to the organization
he heads. Since then, the number of awards has risen to twelve. Eminent Personalities like Dr. V K Saraswat, B V
Pattabhiram, Ramesh Gelli, D V Raju, V B Gadgil were some of the awardees of HMA awards. The Award Statuette
The handsome gold coloured Brass statuette that has come to be associated with the HMA Annual Awards, depicts a
manager standing firmly on the ground with his feet apart, with his head tilted upward, while carrying books in his left hand,
and holding aloft the symbols of Industry in his right hand. The base of the statuette carries the inscription „Yoga Karmesu Kausalam‟., which means „Yoga is skill in action‟
The head titled upwards symbolizes the need for vision in management, the books in the left hand indicate the prerequisite
for enlarging knowledge, as it is through knowledge that issues, challenges and problems are addressed. The representative icons of industry in the uplifted right hand indicate innovation, initiative, success, management and
progress in the organization.
