2020 to 2021- A pivot to the future

11/12/2020

It has been a year like no other to reminisce, yet to the direct connects I know, barring one who recovered hale & healthy, kudos to all of you to have defeated the health crisis.
It isn’t a time to let the guard down, but remember that even when science flattered to deceive & governments bungled on their mandate to protect & serve their citizens with well considered options, we as people time and again have proved to bring the ingenuity to brace and prevail over the most challenging odds in life with our resolve. Providence needs credits as well.
A special kudos to the parents who have done everything to protect their kids with the impossible challenge of containing the energy of their young ones within confines of their four walls & adapt , strive to create a school at home to continue their education.
To the teacher who helped leap frog best run corporations to digitally transform education delivery to over a billion plus kids is a feat unrivalled in human history.
The medical administrators who risked their lives and put their family in harms way get the top honours to cope up with the onerous challenge yet championed to serve selflessly.
The field of medicine, virology and drug discovery hasn’t been challenged thus ever, as they raced against the clock they did crunch timelines & breach frontiers to give hope to billions.
We shall over come.. we have .. 2020 .. we defeated the macabre and frankenstein's sword dangling on our heads ...
2020 will be remembered by those who prevailed and a year in memoriam to the lives we lost owing to our inept leaders & governments who came short at reacting proactively delivering governance when it mattered most ..
No other year since the calamitous World War years has given us lessons on behavioural sciences & the nature of interconnected vectors of our societies. Unity & empathy helped us prevail & survive.
Irrational exuberance & animal instincts brought the worst in us. Bigots had their sway but the pragmatist prevailed.
2021 will be celebrated as a year of the rebound, renew and rise of a new age lest we forget to learn from the crisis of 2020 ..Empathy, Equality, Ex*****on ( vaccination coverage) will be key to ensure that the race against time is won for all.
A crisis is a terrible thing to waste ..
Necessity is the mother of all inventions, It is not the strongest, fastest but the ones most adaptable to change that prevail ...prevention is still the best recourse ...

Are we better at thinking than the stalwarts of 3rd century.. do we understand intelligence & reality ? Are we best placed to create artificial intelligence and virtual reality? Or are these superficial indulgences. Are we better beings than the Renaissance Man or can be become better being with the...

"Technical Debt" is a term coined by Ward Cunningham to describe the obligations incurred by a software organization when it chooses an expedient design or construction approach that increases complexity and is more costly in the long term. The term is useful for communicating with technical teams and provides a powerful metaphor for describing this concept to non-technical stakeholders.

The 7 Foundational Principles
1. Proactive not Reactive; Preventative not Remedial
The Privacy by Design (PbD) approach is characterized by proactive rather than reactive measures. It anticipates
and prevents privacy invasive events before they happen. PbD does not wait for privacy risks to materialize,
nor does it offer remedies for resolving privacy infractions once they have occurred — it aims to prevent
them from occurring. In short, Privacy by Design comes before-the-fact, not after.
2. Privacy as the Default Setting
We can all be certain of one thing — the default rules! Privacy by Design seeks to deliver the maximum degree
of privacy by ensuring that personal data are automatically protected in any given IT system or business
practice. If an individual does nothing, their privacy still remains intact. No action is required on the part of
the individual to protect their privacy — it is built into the system, by default.
3. Privacy Embedded into Design
Privacy by Design is embedded into the design and architecture of IT systems and business practices. It is not
bolted on as an add-on, after the fact. The result is that privacy becomes an essential component of the core
functionality being delivered. Privacy is integral to the system, without diminishing functionality.
4. Full Functionality — Positive-Sum, not Zero-Sum
Privacy by Design seeks to accommodate all legitimate interests and objectives in a positive-sum “win-win” manner,
not through a dated, zero-sum approach, where unnecessary trade-offs are made. Privacy by Design avoids the
pretense of false dichotomies, such as privacy vs. security, demonstrating that it is possible to have both.
5. End-to-End Security — Full Lifecycle Protection
Privacy by Design, having been embedded into the system prior to the first element of information being
collected, extends securely throughout the entire lifecycle of the data involved — strong security measures
are essential to privacy, from start to finish. This ensures that all data are securely retained, and then securely
destroyed at the end of the process, in a timely fashion. Thus, Privacy by Design ensures cradle to grave,
secure lifecycle management of information, end-to-end.
6. Visibility and Transparency — Keep it Open
Privacy by Design seeks to assure all stakeholders that whatever the business practice or technology involved, it is in
fact, operating according to the stated promises and objectives, subject to independent verification. Its component
parts and operations remain visible and transparent, to users and providers alike. Remember, trust but verify.
7. Respect for User Privacy — Keep it User-Centric
Above all, Privacy by Design requires architects and operators to keep the interests of the individual uppermost
by offering such measures as strong privacy defaults, appropriate notice, and empowering user-friendly
options. Keep it user-centric.
